Default BBC on Mohammad Ashraful

Mohammad Ashraful, 18, Bangladesh

In Bangladesh's last one-day series - at home against West Indies - Ashraful twice top-scored in the three matches.

That really showed up the myopic attitude of the Bangladeshi selectors, who dropped him for a while last year.

It's not every day that a kid not far past his 17th birthday hits a century in his debut Test match. But that's what Ashraful did, against Sri Lanka in September 2001.

He may also be called upon to bowl his leg-spin, which has so far been on the expensive side.

P.S. Congratulations to Ashraful for being the top scorer of Bangladesh innings, once again.

Default FOCUS ON ASHRAFUL

I am eagerly waiting to see young Ashraful with his bat during WC 2003.

Not only me, there are many more cricket lovers from around the world focusing on this talented cricketer from Bangladesh.

Good luck to you Ashraful. Please show them some Bangladeshi CHOMOK.

Default Talent

We have some very talented players who are only failing due to bad temparament.

On Ash, one of the comments Ali Zia made was that Ash is destroying his own career because of his carelessness. Everyone know the talent he possesses including Ash himself, however, everytime he goes out, he gets out playing bad shots, shots that he knows NOT TO PLAY. He is only 17, he still has lot of time to get out of this phase.

Next guy in line is Rokon. Another dissapointment. He has fans in the naitonal team itself and yet he is one of our worst performers in the last two one day series.

Hopefully, the sessions with the shrink would help focus on what's important. With Gordon acting as batting coach, his input should also be positive on our boys. We have 4 atches against relatively weaker bowling. Great opportunity for our batsmen to get some runs and grow some self confidence ahead of the World Cup.
