I know IE7 has some neat stuff, but I'm still not sure if I'ld use it more. Recently, all our work computers have been equipped with FF 2.0, and I've started to like it more than ever. So I'ld keep using it, unless my wife starts her marketing campaign about microsoft at home too!

IE 7's layout sucks big time. The icons are too small. The older version which I am using is heaps better, even though it doesnt have the tabbing stuff.

Well you would be surprised at what they've done to Office 2007. I saw the pre-launch version on my wife's laptop (she works at MS), and it sucks big time! It has yucky big buttons with stupid GUI layout. But I'm surprised at IE7's layout from what you're saying. How can there be such a difference? I got the transcript of a conference from MS recently (it was about ERP tho), and they're saying MS is introducing new products in two phases. First phase will change the layout, and second phase will change the system architecture. So really, there might be big surprises with their new products that're due in market in a month.

Office 2007's new interface is awesome. I've been using it since beta 2. This is the first version of office in a long time which truly deserves it's new major version status. The new interface is very much task oriented and logical. No more redundant commands in menu/toolbar, no feature buried under some rarely used menu commands. I hope Open Office and other free office suites would soon follow MS.

In terms of functionality, you're right. In terms of GUI, I think we've just got different opinions. I've done GUI designing for a while professionally, and honestly speaking, their interface is extremely confusing. Most importantly, they're moving away from their older look, which violates usability guidelines. But then again, they're the one who have set the standards in their classic object metaphor interface. Given sufficient time, this new suite might be a success.

Opera's too damn slow...everyone says that it's been tested and proves to be the fastest. May be my pc has anti-Opera picketer on board.

I couldnt install it either. Not because of win2000 but because I used to run a non-genuine version of XP. But afterwards, when I had a peak at IE7 in other computers, its probably the ugliest browser I have seen.
