A really terrific innings regardless of opposition. Best batsman we've produced to date.

If Ashraful was the first superstar of BD cricket. Mushfiqur Rahim has to be the first world class batsman of BD cricket.

Personally, I think Aminul Islam Bulbul was the first world class batsman of Bangladesh cricket (I never saw Raqibuls batting so cannot comment on him). The 145 he scored in maiden test was when Bulbul was no longer in his prime. Bulbul in his prime has to be one of the best BD has produced. Miles ahead of some of the new breeds like Mithun Mosaddek Ariful etc.

Agreed. Bulbul at his prime was a sight to watch. Such a shame we didn’t get regular cricket or any decent exposure then. Athar Ali was pretty classy too.

If you love something and passionate about it, then it doesn't need 'discipline'. The very definition of discipline is forcing yourself to do something that you don't enjoy. From that angle, discipline is not some "virtue" rather something to be ashamed of! The very fact that you do not appreciate or trust your OWN self and process and intuition is NOT a pride rather a very unfortunate failure of mankind.

Being disciplined is sometimes as stupid as forcing yourself not to do #2 for 8 hours because it is 'disgusting' and somehow feeling all proud about if! SMH

No person reached the REAL zenith of mastery by grinding their teeth and FORCING themselves to play under the guise and 'virtue' of hard work ethic. The VERY reason Bradman is Bradman was the childhood playfulness attitude he brought from his days of water tank. As did Leonardo Da Vinci et al.

As Kobe said, when I was young, I wanted to be the greatest basketball player of all time. As I grow older, I realized how fickle that goal is. Sure you can be best of the best through hard work, but in order to reach the purest form of mastery that... that can only be achieved by pure unadulterated love and passion. It is entirely possible you wake up in the morning and give yourself a time frame to memorize 100 digits of pi or solve Rubik's cube. But what good is life if it makes you salty and frustrated instead you of just loving the process and enjoying every second of it? Besides autotelic people are more successful in the long run.

We really need to get away from this age-old amol of 'babysitting' our players.

GSP's trainer Firas Zahabi harped on the importance of undertraining for longevity. And last time I checked GSP and Brady are #1 and GOAT. Brady realized the importance of 'soft approach' versus teeth-grinding b.. busting attitude.

Here's Sadhguru:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s-YYpKnRgcQ

Alan Watts said it best: "If you think you are flawed, you are using that VERY flawed mind to make a claim that you are flawed! So how the hell can you trust that process?"

Nasir and Sabbir reaped what they sowed. Our job is to make them the best player one can be not the 'best' human being they can be, whatever the damn hell that means. They took chances, it didn't work for us or the team, move on. There are plenty of other fishes in the sea.

Congrats to Mushfiqur Rahim on becoming the 2nd BD batsman to cross 4000 test runs

Spoiled brat Rahim mad that his gloves got taken away. That's why he won't score runs. Piece of turd.

Haha, you guys forced me to retire that word with threats of ban. A very dark stain on BC I must say that remains to this day with regards to free speech. If you as a mod, give me permission to start using it again, I will!

^ No. It is not THAT important to me that I want to take a ban for it.

But they did censor me, I can inbox you the message they sent me. I can't do anything as BC is privately owned. If it was public, I would take them to court, you can bet on it.

But Mushfiq could also go to court for defamation, granted he probably won't have lost anything tangible like business or salary.

How many more years can Mushfiqur continue to perform legibly?

I think it is time that he calls it a quits to Keeping and concentrate on his test batting. Mash is most injury prone and only time will tell whether he will be able to make himself fully fit and available for World Cup. Among the other seniors Riad, though elder than Msuhfiqur seems fitter and he will probably continue for 3 more years. I think among those only Tamim and SHakib will be available for 2023 World Cup in India although very unlikely.

The world will be better off when Mushfiq hands over his gloves, then the world will be saved when he retires. Rahim is the last remnant of the old hierarchy culture which has enslaved us as a team.

But...I am warming up to his version of the Nagin dance now. Yes. The fact that he did it with a straight face is legendary.

^ It's the truth. And it comes up. It shouldn't bother you. I have other posts as well, but when I make such posts, they are no less truth.

The truth of the matter is we do not have a single great T20 batsman

Shakib and Mustafiz got chance in IPL primarily because of their bowling.

Not only did Shakib and Mustafiz get selected by teams in IPL, but they did amazingly well. Especially Fizz. He was one of the main reasons why SRH won the IPL. Shakib also had many good performance for KKR, but ultimately IPL is too small for Shakib really.

Mashrafe mostly sucked for KKR. Once giving a 24 run last over to lose them a game.

Am I missing anyone? So not bad altogether for Bd players who got picked for IPL. 2 out of 3 were great successes.

Tamim did not get a single game for Pune Warriors if I recall right.
