Default IPL Seems to be afraid of BPL ?

"""Bangladesh was interested to bring Indian cricket team players to play for a team of Bangladesh Premier League as there are many popular players such as Chris Gayle, Sanath Jayasuria, Shahid Afridi already agreed to play in the tournament.

After a long wait, they did not respond anything. Later when BCB tried to have Saurav Ganguly as a Brand Ambassador, he was also not permitted.

Yesterday in an article of Ananada Bazaar Magazine from India published a news about it. BCCI have not given the permission to their players to play in BPL Twenty20.

The Magazine also said India don’t want to encourage BPL as they are afraid if BPL will get success, IPL will lose the focus of people as it used to be. """

So this is why they they did not permit their player to play for Bangladesh Premier League ! LOL

Don't think so. The IPL, all its flaws put aside for one moment is 'up there', so to speak. You're kidding yourself if you think millions or dare I say it, a billion Indians are going to switch to a Bangladeshi league en masse either now or ten years on.

Not to mention that there are no Indian players in the league. Why would an Indian fan take more than a casual interest in it, at best?

I don't think so....Indian fans will be interested if the indian cricketers are playing, which would have made BPL even a better league, if Indian cricketers are ever allowed and BPL becomes a huge success, then maybe IPL officials might feel insecure, which will take a loooong time to happen....

Bangladesh, srilankan board shud bar their players from participating in ipl. Once this is done australia might also follow as they have their own big bash tournament. Let bcci run their tournament without overseas players and sponsors

You seriously think Bangladesh barring their players from IPL is going to have an effect And what is the overseas sponsors you are talking about in IPL ??? If anything it is Indian companies that are advertising overseas. The great kamla pasand was advertising in Aus

SL will have an effect but they need BCCI more than ever. BCCI can afford to not play SL for a very long time (we played them almost every other week in the past..we were playing against them even in the world cup...even in Australia). SL on the other hand need money to pay of debt.

BCCI is paying Australia through Champions league (where Aus gets 30% of profit) to not cause problems to IPL.

Yeah we are out to get Bangladesh RUN RUN RUN RUUUUUUUUUUUUUN

I was merely replying to the original posters assertion that Bangladesh will be able to influence IPL by banning their players from the league. Which is wrong. There is one BD player in IPL and he too does not get to play every game. What effect will it have if BD pulls out of IPL. Nothing... SL as I said will be able to influence but they are in a financial mess. So yes SL and BD cannot do anything with IPL.

To be fair, you're right. SL and BD won't be able to cause nearly as much damage as the IPL will be able to cause itself, through a combination of financial mismanagement, gluttony and hubris.

Success of one such league doesn't insecure another. Every one has their own window. It will only benefit the players and benefit all the leagues. It's wrong thinking that a successful BPL threatens IPL or vise versa.

India is not out to get Bangladesh. It is the regional superpower and is acting like a big, bad superpower. Before it became one, it was acting toward becoming one. The behavior pattern was the same, though.
