154 needed at stumps with 5 wickets in hand. Backbone and courage at last from the Windies middle order. The encouraging thing is that England were not actually bowling that badly for much of the day.

Shafin, their last 3 batsman are pretty hopeless, so two more wickets and its probably game over.

Day-4 stumps:

West Indies 301/5 chasing 455.

Brilliant resistance for the windies but can they do it? I'm sorry I don't think so... Chanderpaul and Ramdin are the last recognised batsmen: Test debutant Sammy has 25 first class average but only scored 1 in the first innings... Taylor could score some runs but his best is 23*... Edwards and Collymore averages are below 10... as Bearman wrote, two more wickets and it's over... so Chanderpaul and Ramdin should reach 400/420 before being (both) dismissed to have West Indies with some chance. I saw Ramdin batting against India in the last match of the Test series past july and he can bat, so he could be one to rely on... btw the highest successful run chase in Test cricket is 418 by West Indies themselves on Australia in 2003:
http://www.cricinfo.com/db/ARCHIVE/2...13MAY2003.html
can they do it again? (and better!)

I just hope so.The record before that Aussie one was also held By WI.

It's only 155 runs, they have 90 overs, and England dont have any wizard like Warne,Murali,or a madman like Shoaib..
They should do it,now that they have come so close..

Well, what a day. West Indies have done so well to give themselves a real chance of winning tomorrow - Chanderpaul, their rock, will shoulder the burden again. He's unbeaten on 81, with Ramdin on 26. England need to take five more wickets, though, to wrap up the series and they have every chance of so doing.

Man thats the Shivnarine we like to see, c'mon one more day, bring the new sun over the horizon the genes of real cricketers

lets all out here hope that west indies pulls this win off. its surprising that in over 136 years of test cricket, no team has ever pulled off a 450+ run chase. even the highest succesful chase in odis(438) is more than the highest succesful chase in tests(418). if windies does it off, it will be one of the best things to happen in cricket and in future, teams, esp windies will be confident of chasing down 500+ scores in 4th innings in future.

GO WINDIES!!!

Sammy is an allrounder has 10 halfcenturies in firt class
can he preform miracles with the bat as well as the ball?

http://content-nz.cricinfo.com/engvw...yer/53115.html

no team has won chasing more than 418, doesnt mean a teamhasnt score higher,England scored 654-5 chasing 696 in 1939, thought the test was timeless(went for more than 5 days)

WI played superbly yesterday. But I dont see any real chance for them. IMO, the chance of WI winning this test is 10% at the most. If any of Shiv or Ramdin is out, the floodgate will open.

Anyway, I want to see a good fight from the West Indians and wish them all the best luck to pull this one off!

getting interesting. 113 needed, 4 wickets in hand not a big task but sammy just pulled his right hamstring and considering windies ability to collapse england has the upper hand
