Couple books ticket to Africa, ends up in Bangladesh

Several hours into the trip they woke up from a long sleep and noticed the inflight map showed the plane over the Middle East. They then realised the plane was full of passengers who looked Asian, not African.

only exception is your dad doesnt carry a moronic gene like this couple. its easy to blame this on airlines, but sometimes you have to look at yourself too......

their clue was the complexion of the majority passengers few hours into the flight......chagol kaake bole....and koto prokar.....

anyways, choudhury bhai opens the best thread.... 5pluos rating

When I read the part about Asian and African, I could not stop laughing. I would have asked them why did not they notice it when they were boarding the flight second time.

I like to say all my US/UK Desi borothers and Sisters.

If you start using fair and lovely/handsome while in Istanbul it should start working by the time you cross Middle East.

Not even gonna read the OP before guessing they got confused between "Dhaka" and "Dakar"...?

Happens. I once boarded a plane bound for Praha when I was really trying to get to Grozny. Those damn Europeans and their countries with names that don't even make sense.

Actually they did noticed as soon as they boarded. They just asked the passenger beside them

"Where r u from?"

"I am pom Gana"

The couple got more confused. And while the plane was flying over middle east, the guy (pom Gana) put some sun screen on to protect his skin from bright middle eastern sun.

But why free economy class ??
The couple should have taken business/first class.
Make the most while you can.

It was spelled as DACCA before Dhaka. They thought it will change again based on governments e.g mujibpur, ziagonj etc. So they just stuck with DAC.

Very practical point there, lol.

DHA was already taken by the Saudi Airport of Dhahran at Damman, though it only serves as Saudi Air Force Base since 1999.
Ershad chachchu changed Dacca to Dhaka in 1983.

Infact most airports do keep the old codes even after changes in city/airport names. Flew in and out of Kolkata and Mumbai last week and they still have CCU and BOM.I think Chennai also still have MAA (Madras).

Code change would be a nightmare to implement I'd think. You would hardly ever hear any travel agent/tour operator or anyone associated with the industry say the full name of any city or airport, they all go by the codes when they work.

Thats true. Although in some instances they do change codes.

JFK in NYC was known as Idlewild Int'l until a few weeks after Kennedy's assassination in 1963. It was renamed and the code was changed to JFK.

Personally, I think DHK would be better than DHA.

Interestingly enough, I believe Canada is the only country that uses a convention with their codes, all begin with YY-, eg Toronto Pearson is YYZ.
