Default Crossover between T20 cricket and ODI's and Bangladesh's future

First of all, what a relief that BD won against England and now is in the quarters.

Most of the matches in this wc has been high scoring and we are playing in an era where batsmen have huge advantage over bowlers. Powerplays, two new balls, etc. Modern one day games has turned into longer version of t20's. Players or countries who play considerably more t20 games are performing better in one dayers.

England players did struggle compared to India, Australia and SA batsmen. Players from these countries along with West Indies play more t20. Thats why we are seeing huge scores and huge scores being chased down regularly by these teams. Teams like England and others whose player dont play as many t20 games are still adapting to these new changes.

We are lucky to have players like Shakib and Mushfique. Our performances has been great so far. But I feel we also need to adapt with this crossover between ODI and T20. There has been so much changes when it comes to modern day batting. But we need more players to step up and match shakib and mushfiq.

Thats why bpl is so important. We saw the immediate effect on it at the Asia cup 2012. We need to have a bigger and better version of bpl.

The way Mahmudullah and Mushfiqur has raised their games over the years, Nasir, Tamim, Imrul and others should too. We have to prepare our current and upcoming players for this changing trends in ODI's.

Good thread. I'd say after England, Bangladesh would be the next on the list of teams that are behind the trends. We're finally starting to play like how teams played in the past decade. Our batting would be more up to date if Tamim would bat his old self. And Mushy goes up to 3. Riyad's inning will need a Rahim and Shakib around him to keep a positive RR.

Before this crossover era, 275 batting first would seem a decent total. Yesterday it seemed we were short. Thank God, we were playing a team with a similar batting strength. England did not have batsman who can completely take the game away from the opposition. Butler looked like one, however you need more than one or two such players. I am glad to see Shak, mushy and riyad stepping it up consistently. Others need to do that as well. Tamim needs to be more consistent and so does nasir. Soumya Sarkar can be a great one down. Anamul needs to sort out his technique, then he can be an asset on one dayers.
