Actually I was mistaken. India made it to the finals that year

It was unfortunate that the Tennis Wimbledon final was on the day as CWC final. British public love Wimbledon Tennis. Even though no British player in the final it still gets huge tv ratings.

Who cares ? 100 years from now it will still be written that England has won a Cricket World Cup in 2019 regardless of where the captain was from.

What matters is England won the world cup, not who lifted it

No he didn't take them single handedly, they had The most complete bowling attack
World class swing bowler
World class line and length bowler
World class express bowler
World class spinner in these conditions
All he has to do is find 10 overs
Starc was better
Rohit was better
Stokes was better
Forget Shakib, Williamson wasn't top 4

Depends on what is the criteria to be MOT, if it's about who carried his team further or who was more impact full then it's rightfully Williamson but if it is only based on who scored more runs or took more wickets then it would be Sakib.

I had some soft corner for KW before but it was gone after that crook action in SAF-NZ match. He falls into the same level to those who mankad or Latif type feigns catches or the ball tamperers like Warner/Smith. Considering that unfairness only, ICC should have dropped him from the MOT contention.

Umpiring mistakes were plenty this WC, sometimes you fell victim to it, sometimes you were the beneficiary. I see nothing wrong Kane not walking.
Shakib fans need to stop being such sore losers.

Anyway, that boundary rule didn't make sense to me whatsoever. The cup should have been shared.

I think ICC is the loser, who are encouraging this behavior. If not Shakib there were other impact player like Stokes alone could be a contender who hung on till the end along with earlier performances with bat, ball, field.

Agreed. He is a fantastic captain and certainly at the level of Martin Crow with the bat.

Why? With all the technology available, its the umpire fault as they couldn't spot the nick or rule him out. And you are comparing him to Warner/smith. Ridiculous!

Everybody can have their opinion. We can agree to disagree. Cricket is a gentleman's game and it is not me, Faff also raised the question and there were many discussions on this from cricket experts. To my book he is a pretentious guy who is not honest to the core, so in future we may see him do the same thing and as spectators start taking it as a norm which should not be. May be he was doing it in the past and getting by in absence of tv-umpire and review systems who knows. ICC could make it an example by taking stern measure rather they were lenient.

What a game! Congratulations to the ENG team and commiseration to the NZ team. The best cricket Final I have ever seen and definitely the best match in this World Cup. I supported both teams, but was rooting for ENG a little bit more because I wanted ENG to win it for the home crowd at the legendary Lord's ground.

Every time I remember that I get more pissed at Mash and Co. How they wasted the greatest overall performance by an individual in a world cup! Shak won 3 MOM awards for almost singlehandedly winning those 3 games for us - that's as close to singlehanded win as it gets in the game of cricket. Had we won against NZ he would've been the clear favorite to win MOM. Not to mention if we had won any other matches chances are he would've been the automatic choice for MOM. How much more can a human being do? I wonder what's the highest number for MOM awards won by an individual in the group stages of a world cup!
