গুছিয়ে নিচ্ছেন আকরাম খানের নির্বাচক দল

‘ওহ্ বড্ড ব্যস্ত সময় যাচ্ছে। এই মাসটায় অনেকগুলো খেলা হলো, জাতীয় লিগের ফাইনাল, আন্তঃজেলা ক্রিকেট চ্যাম্পিয়নশিপ, একাডেমির জন্য ২৪ জন খেলোয়াড় বেছে নেওয়া এবং জাতীয় দলের কন্ডিশনিং ক্যাম্পের জন্য ৩০ জন খেলোয়াড় নির্বাচন।’

আনুষ্ঠানিক দায়িত্ব নেওয়ার আগে জাতীয় দলের নির্বাচকদের এই ব্যস্ততা আসলে ভবিষ্যতের জন্য তৈরি হয়ে থাকা। যাতে করে ১ জুন দায়িত্ব নেওয়ার পর, অথৈ জলে হাবুডুবু খেতে না হয়। অবৈতনিক সময়ে তিন নির্বাচকের স্বেচ্ছাশ্রম বেশ প্রশংসনীয়।

মিনহাজুল আবেদীন নান্নু এবং হাবিবুল বাশারকে নিয়ে সময় সুযোগ মতো প্রয়োজনীয় কাজগুলো আগেভাবে সেরে নিচ্ছেন প্রধান নির্বাচক আকরাম খান। পূর্ব অভিজ্ঞতা থাকলে কতটা সুবিধা হয় প্রধান নির্বাচকের কাছ থেকে কিছুটা হলেও শেখা হলো বাকি দুই নির্বাচকের। সতীর্থ নির্বাচক দ্বয়ের কাছ থেকে পুরো সহযোগিতা পাওয়ায় আকরাম খানও দারুণ উচ্ছ্বসিত। প্রশংসায় পঞ্চমুখও বলা যায়। রোববার বাংলানিউজকে সতীর্থদের সম্পর্কে প্রধান নির্বাচক বলছিলেন,“উনারা তো খুবই সক্রিয়। আমার আগে স্টেডিয়ামে উপস্থিত থাকেন। এই তো আমরা ৩০ জনের একটা দল গোছাতে চেষ্টা করছি। অনেক ভেবে চিন্তে কাজ করতে হচ্ছে।”

জাতীয় দলের প্রথমিক প্রশিক্ষণ ক্যাম্প শুরু হবে ৪ জুন থেকে। দায়িত্ব নেওয়ার পরপরই ৩০ জনের একটি দল ঘোষণা করতে গেলে বিপদেই পড়তে হতো আকরাম খানকে। সেজন্য আগে থেকে খেলোয়াড়ের তালিকা তৈরি করে বিসিবির ক্রিকেট পরিচালনা বিভাগের হাতে তুলে দেওয়ার চেষ্টা চলছে। টেকনিক্যাল ও মূল্যায়ন কমিটিও বাছাইকৃত ক্রিকেটারদের নামগুলো একঝলক দেখে নেওয়ার সুযোগ পাবে।

অবশ্য প্রথম অ্যাসাইনমেন্ট হিসেবে জিপি-বিসিবি একাডেমির জন্য যে ২৪ জন তরুণ ক্রিকেটার নির্বাচন করেছেন হাবিবুল বাশাররা, সেখানে বিচক্ষণতার পরিচয় পাওয়া যায়। অনেক ভেবেচিন্তে এবং ভবিষ্যৎ খেয়াল রেখে, প্রতিভাবান ক্রিকেটারদের নিয়ে সাজানো হয়েছে একাডেমি দল। নির্বাচক কমিটির সবচেয়ে নবীন সদস্য হাবিবুল বাশার যেমন বলছিলেন,“এই কাজগুলো তো আমাদেরকে করতেই হতো। এগুলোকে ফেলে রাখার কোন মানে হয় না। একটু এগিয়ে থাকলে মন্দ কি।”

অধিনায়কদের নির্বাচক দলের ওই সদস্য তাদের কাজটাকে বেশ কঠিনই মানছেন। “দেখে যতটা সহজ মনে হয় আসলে কাজটা অত সহজ নয়। অনেক কিছু মাথায় রেখে খেলোয়াড়দের নিতে হয়। এই মুহূর্তে যেমন জাতীয় দলের জন্য ৩০ জনকে খুঁজে নেওয়া কঠিন মনে হচ্ছে। ১৮ থেকে ২০ জনকে চোখবন্ধ করে বাছাই করা যায়। বাকি ১০ জনের জন্য বাড়তি শ্রম দিতে হচ্ছে। পারফরমেন্সের সঙ্গে অন্যান্য বিষয়গুলোও তো দেখতে হয়, তাই না। খেলার চেয়ে খেলোয়াড়দের নির্বাচকের কাজটা বেশি স্পর্শকাতর মনে হচ্ছে। আশা করি আমরা এই চ্যালেঞ্জটাকে জয় করতে সক্ষম হবো।”

নির্বাচকমন্ডলীর সবচেয়ে বর্ষিয়ান সদস্য মিনহাজুল আবেদীন নান্নু তো আগেই বলে রেখেছেন দুই বছরের দায়িত্ব শেষে বলতে পারবেন কতটা সফল হলেন। কোচিংয়ের চেয়ে খেলোয়াড় নির্বাচনের কাজটা কতটা চ্যালেঞ্জের। তবে এই মুহূর্তে যেটুকু কাজ করার সুযোগ হয়েছে তা ভালো লেগেছে বলেই জানালেন।

say what you want about Bashar's captaincy or his penchant for hooking, but his passion is in the right place. same with Akram and Nannu, my guess.

hopefully these guys will make the best decisions we've had so far.

btw, any idea on when we're gonna name a new coach? India, and other teams already got theirs...

there should be a group of scouts working under the Selectors. it wont be possible for all the selectors to be present in all the games to watch players. so these scouts should be assigned to different leagues, zones, or particular players to spot more talents. these scouts should also be responsible to collect video footage and more detailed information on players to the head selectors.

this scouting system will help the selectors to do their job efficiently.

when you get a new job you want to prove your self to your new boss like showing up early and staying late at work, taking initiatives and all that. Thats a norm..As far as our newly appointed selectors are concerned, I must say that the intentions are right but lets wait to see how they manage to work with "Ghar tera" BCB. I just dont want to see another "Durjoy" episode...

Your view is right but we should not say anything at the begining. I hope they will do better. But only selectors can not improve our cricket. BCB should take right plan for improving cricket. Selectors can only select players who are normally perform good. But we need more domestic competition, better infracture and right plan who can do BCB.

This is not entirely true. While they know cricket for sure, that is not the key reason for supporters being overly excited. Most of us are excited cause we know about them more than other guys ( Most of the supporters have short memory and tend to live on present and near past ). Past selection committee members such as Masum used to know cricket a lot, only because he retired a long ago a few BC members could recognize him and there were less enthusiast about his job approval.

You are right. But these new selectors have a good knowledge about our new cricketers. After their retirment they also engage in cricket. Nomally the have a clear idea about recent cricket, cricketers & situation.
