Default Fantasy Cricket: BD in WI [Deadline: May 28 2004, 5am GMT]

Team registration for Bangladesh in West Indies - Test Series is now open. Final time to enroll/update your team is May 28, 2004 (5:00AM GMT) . Please enroll now.
http://games.banglacricket.com/fantasy.php

BanglaCricket Fantasy went through yet another major update since last fantasy game (Bangladesh in Zimbabwe). New features and rules have been added to make the fantasy game scoring system more competitive and exciting.

Many of the updates are result of suggestions that came from members of BanglaCricket forum. Thank you. Thanks to Zunaid bhai for his suggestions.

In short the rules are as follows:

  1. Each cricketer now has value(cost) associated with him. This value is calculated automatically after statistical analysis of cricketer averages before the start of the series. For batsmen their batting averages are considered. Similarly, for bowlers their bowling averages are considered. For all rounders, there are 50/50 consideration for their batting and bowling efforts. Wicket keepers are considered as batsman and their batting is only considered. Therefore, better cricketers will generally have higher value associated with them.

  2. You will be allocated 500 points at the time of team creation. You will use this 500 point to get 5 players. Due to associated value with each cricketer, you will have to balance your team within the limit.

  3. After the series (Test or ODI) starts, you will have set number of substitutions during the progress of the series. If its 2 test series, you will get 2 substitution limit. Similarly if its a 5 ODI series, you will get 5 substitution.

  4. To substitute a cricketer, you will have to spend your points to acquire the new cricketer. The total cost associated with the cricketer during substitution is his value and his accumulated points in the series at the time of substitution. E.g.: if Mohammad Ashraful has 200 point after first test, and his value is 75; then you will have to spend 275 point to acquire Ashraful in your team. Thus, as the series goes on cricketers will accumulate more and more points and you will need more and more points for substitution.

  5. After substitution, you will get points with the new player from the next ODI or Test. You will not get points accumulated by that cricketer prior to your substitution.

  6. Point allocation is as follows:
    MethodPoints
    Each Run1
    Each Wicket20
    Each Fielding5
    Not Out5
    Century20
    Half-Century10
    5-For20
    4-For10
    3-For5

Good luck to everyone, specially tehsin bhai

Nasif

PS: Please post here if you face/find any error using the Fantasy.

Nafis bhai, excellent fantasy cricket format this time; I like the way you put limitation on player by giving them certain point. This fantasy game is getting way more interesting. Thanks again!

Thanks rassel.

There will be a BanglaCricket XI team with the top XI team managers. Names of the top 11 will be posted on fantasy cricket front page, overall series winner will be the captain

thanx Nasif bhai......finally my suggesion has been approved......

.....but I have a question...as u said "better cricketers will generally have higher value associated with them"....how come Tareq Aziz has value of 150 and Rafiq has 93?? ...and Rajin Saleh...150....Ashraful 75????.....I understand its all about statistics......but still.....the difference is just too much

Tareq Aziz's ODI bowling avg is lower than Rafiq. As a result, he has higher value. Analysis works on assuming a bell curve situation. Players who are around the peak of the bell gets around 70s and players who are at extreme right or left, gets much higher or lower accordingly.

I will have to polish this a bit more in future.

Default One more suggestion

can u please show somewhere (may be on the page where we select the team) how many people chosen a player? for example so far out of 20 teams: sujon:0, faisal:15(plus or minus) and so on? that will give us an insight of which players more popular.

by the way, i just registered too. i know rana may not be playing all the matches, but i'll go with him, all the way!

You can see the popularity from the team creation page, or by selecting most popular under Stat menu.

.....ok.....i have a question for some ppl......initially u have got 500 points.....now my question is to ppl who r spending(loosing) 150 points for a batsman/bowler.....what r u guys expecting in return????

for example.....if u chosed Tapash baisya (150)....for 3 ODIs.......if u wanna earn some points from him..... Tapash needs to take 8 wickets (8*20)= 160...then u will earn 10 points...in other word....u invested $150...and u made $10 profit....so is it really realistic / is there very high possibility for Tapash taking 8 wickets in 3 ODIs?

...same example goes for batsman...like Shahriar Hossain...(150).....u r spending $150.....and if does not score 150+ runs in 3 ODIs.....ur investemnet is worthless....

I felt...ppl did not notice about the initial points matter......there are lots of ppl having points in 2 digits initially...when u started with 500.......

...so ppl....u guys still have time for making changes.....i wanna see a competative fantasy cricket....

Default Some More Suggestions

May be not in this tour but for the future, i think it would be more logical to subtract point for a players performace. I mean point will be subtracted from the earned point if a player does something bad like catch drop or duck.

Here is some suggestion:

Duck: -10
An easy Catch Dropped: -15
Each 3 Wides or No: -1
Misjudged call for run that caused run out: -5

Yes, I am thinking about it lately. The point threshold seems a bit high considering our player performances. Tapash taking taking 8 wickets and making 30/40 runs in 3 matches ins't unrealistic. Then you will have 160+40= 200 points, 50 point profit. He may get even more with wicket bonus with 3/4/5 for. Same goes for Shahriar if he scores a century then he has 100+20 in one match.

In any event start point seems to be tto much. May be in future we should have lower cost and lower startup point.

On sidenote, I intentionally chose the most expensive team

Duck, and wides/no ball can be implemented. Catch dropped and misjudged runout cannot be implemented as there is no way to find it out fully, because it is not recorded on score card.

Just to let everyone know:
Deadline to create/update your team is May 15, 2004 05:00 GMT (1am US ET, 11am BST).

After this cutoff time you won't be able to create new teams. If you made a team, you will have to use your limited substitution to change players after deadline.

=======

Some interesting stuff after the practice match:
-chacha is now in 5 teams, before he was only in 1 team
-Rafiq is now the most popular with 40 teams, previously it was Ashraful.
-Most un-popular player now is Bidyut, who is in only 2 teams (one being mine). Previously it was Chacha :duh:

You can see the popularity here.

Well, only 61 people made team, which is less than half of the registered members in fantasy (127). It seems we are stuck in 60 barriar. We had around 60 teams during last test/odi.

Hoping to cross the 100 barrier in one of the future series.
