BDFlag Help/Advice Required

Hi,
My name is Shahrukh, I am currently playing club and state cricket in the US. I have also played couple of seasons of minor county cricket in the UK in Middlesex. Although I am residing in the US now for 8 years having lived in Dhaka prior to that, I will be moving back to Bangladesh (that is where I am from), at the end of this year.

After I reach Dhaka, at the end of this year, I would like to try my luck with some club cricket there, preferably in the Dhaka Premier League. Because I have been out of the country for so long, I am unsure of how to approach the clubs, especially, because no one knows me and I don't know any one in the Dhaka Cricket circle any more.

I was wondering and hoping if any of you folks could provide me with some sort of direction, as to how I can try and approach the Dhaka Cricket clubs.
Any Help in this regard is much appreciated.

Regards,
Shahrukh

to be honest with you, bangladesh is not as backward as you might think in cricketing terms. Dhaka premier league lets be honest unless you are well connected or already have a name you will not get in. even people who have certain fame do not even make it to big teams anymore.

i do not wish to burst your bubble, just hoping you will be realistic.

if you are young, you can try certain so called "academies" then move on up from there. when i was young, best way to get noticed was to be part of nirmal cricket competition. that is no longer available now.

Unless you know someone in the "in" crowd, it will be very difficult. In BD, things are done very differently from what you are used to. I am not saying it cannot be done. But, having patience / perseverance in abundance will be of great help.

Lack of having connections is a weak excuse by others to console that life must be the way it is. It's a common question that appears in Job Interview questionnaire. Yes life isn't fair. The onus is on the person to prove himself that he is beyond mega-talent to have him get hired. Mediocrity in, mediocrity out.
