I figured that the Tiny Titan deserves his very own stats thread given the extraordinary position he's found himself in as Bangladesh's first ever 50+ average batsman. Current stats are:

Matches = 10
Innings = 19
Runs = 930
Average = 58.12
High Score = 181
100s = 3
50s = 6

After the Khulna Test, Mominul will qualify for cricinfo's 'highest career batting avg' list as it requires a minimum of 20 innings played. Even if he collects two ducks, Mominul will have an average of 51.67 and will make the list (lowest on the list is an average of 45.00). BD's highest average so far after 20+ innings belongs to Tamim Iqbal at 40.13, followed by Bashar at 39+.

Interestingly, Mominul's career average has never dipped below 40. So here are some interesting number games:

For Mominul to average ____, he must score this many in the Khulna Test:

51.67...0 runs
55.00...60 runs
60.00...150 runs
60.98...168 runs
65.00...240 runs

If Mominul scores 168 runs or more in the next Test, he will have an average of at least 60.98 and would enter the list #2 behind only the Legend, Sir Donald Bradman.

For the series, Mominul needs:

46.50...0 runs
50.00...70 runs
55.00...170 runs
60.00...270 runs
65.00...370 runs

Personally, I would be disappointed if he let his average fall below 55, and ideally he should aim to keep a 60+ average. But given the nature of our wickets and the ICC's continued conspiracy to give our batsman out without benefit of the doubt and no extend that same benefit to our bowlers (Mominul's dismissals in the WI vs Panyangara's lbw appeal in the first Test, or Shahadat's caught behind by Taylor), Mominul will be battling not only the pitch and Zimbabwe's bowlers, but the ICC as well.

If Mominul can average in the 40s, I'll be happy. I dont know if our batsmen can average in the 50s. Their technique and temperament are just not there yet to be averaging in the 50s. Mominul will no doubt be a regular in our Test side for a long time. He's been a great find

At current mushy may be able to, the others are all missing something, mominul would be the next but his technique isn't as good but he is still young so has a good chance to improve. then shakib because of his desire to beat opposition and be BD's best, then tamim who has all the talent but wrong attitude/mentally isn't handling things.

Tamim wont doesn't have the fitness or mindset to avg fifty. He's happy just averaging 35. I'll be happy if he pulls it back up to 40 one day.

Shakib is an all rounder and has the pressure of bowling plus he bats too low down the order to avg 50. He will average in the low 40s inshallah.

Mominul proved his technique, while not as good as Mushy's, is adequate. He faced Gabriel bowling 150+ away from home. Granted the ball wasn't moving around, but he can at least play short balls on a bouncy pitch from express quicks.

Mushy would avg 50 if he batted up the order. He might do it from #6 if he gets enough not outs.

Yeah that's why I put mominul at as 2nd most likely to do it, the only weakness is his technique which is better than most other BD batsmen and still ok even if it's not as good as mushy's but like I said he's young and has plenty of time to improve on that, it just feels like mominul and mushy will be the most consistent batsmen out of the current lot.

He should not be by any means be discouraged at all. We can see that he is doing his level best(getting out in the most inexplicable, uncanny of ways). We are just praying that he doesn't lose his touch like so many others before him.

Both Mominul and Mushy like all BD batters are challenged by rising balls. So they will have to learn how to play in bouncy wickets for away games; note that these wickets have even bounce. To overcome bounce they have to be consistent hooker (don't take the other meaning) like Gavaskar and Kalicharan!

Failure in home conditions against Zimbabwean bowlers on a batting wicket is slightly more annoying than wildly celebrating batting success under the same circumstances.

To be fair to Momin, he is having to bat higher up in batting order, to accommodate Riyad. Also, he is almost always having to come early as one of the openers falls early regularly.

Wally Hammond, Peter May, Sir Clyde Walcott, Sir Garfield Sobers, Ken Barrington, Graham Gooch, Robin Smith, Andrew Flintoff, Sachin Tendulkar, VVS Laxman and now Mominul Haque.

Those are quite prestigious names to be alongside and he can be proud of that. Hope he can continue his run.

World record stands at 12 set by AB de Villiers earlier this year.

and the best thing is he started this amazing run from his debut test (if I am not mistaken). He looks very calm and composed which is unlike our other batsmen. Now needs to convert few of them to 100s.
