Aaaaand we didn't go through, serously you were not expecting us to beat Japan right? I know being a Bangladesh cricket fans could make people hopelessly optimistic at times.

I am an avid Socceroos fan, but I reckon Syria deserves to go through and complete their fairy tale ending by qualifying in the World Cup and bring some smiles to the people in Syria amidst all their sufferings. If we can barely scrape a win against Thailand, I really don't think we deserve to play in the World Cup anyway.

This Australian team is fiery and nonforgiving, we will bounce back, hope you didn't forget the 2-2 draw with Germany and 1-1 Draw with Chile.Syria should be a cake walk, and hopefully we beat the USA/Honduras.

I would not be so optimistic. Those were friendlies, so stronger teams don't tend to take them very seriously (would be like us beating India A in cricket). And back then most of our team were on top of their game, esp. Mat Rayn. But these days Mat Ryan really sucks at 1-1 situations and almost always concedes a goal because he can't spread himself well enough. Right now he is the biggest weakness for the Socceroos and I think he should be dropped. Rogic, Leckie and Loungo showed some promise earlier, but their games have dropped since then considerably.

I'd say Aaron Mooy is the only world class player that we have in the team right now.

Mat Ryan is the best we have, no other potential GK to replace him, unless Mark Schwarzer decides to step out of retirement.

Tomi Juric also has the potential to be a good forward/striker if he is well taken care of.

I dearly hope, you guys lose to Panama, I will be at the stadium, to witness, the US crashing out of the WC at the hands of the Socceroos.

I no longer follow it that religiously anymore but I think the first 4/5 games we played under Klinsmann. We lost most of those games by a huge margin. That is why we are in this situation. Hopefully we will qualify directly.

Yes, it seems Australia will have a show down with either Panama or Honduras.

Any info on the sides, do the champions of asia stand a chance?

Still struggling to believe Saudi Arabia beat Japan and qualified.

Australia V Syria Home leg, last match was drawn 1-1

This it for the green and gold. Lose today, and the coach will be gone.

I swear, if we lose, the RAAF needs to drop some bombs on Syria.

Yeah it was a good match, not sure about Honduras/Panama.

I thought this WC will be good for Australia to get into RO Sixteens or even the Qfs.

Looks like I'll have to wait another 5 years.

Good to see some Muslim countries in the WC.

Egypt/Iran/Algeria and Saudi Arabia.
