Default BBC website news article....

The BBC website already has an article about today's match.

Titled "Tigers attack lacks teeth".

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport3/cwc2003...00/2730271.stmTigers attack lacks teeth

World Cup warm-up, Durban: KwaZulu-Natal 251-6 (50 overs) v Bangladesh

The limitations of Bangladesh's bowling attack were exposed as youngster Hashim Amla led the home side to a sizeable total.

Amla, the captain of the South African team which reached last year's Under-19 World Cup final, stroked 76 off 89 balls.

He went in at number three in the fifth over and struck a six and seven fours before he was bowled by Alok Kapali.

Leg-spinner Kapali was the most successful bowler, picking up three for 70.

But slow left-armer Mohammad Rafique was the pick of the attack, sending down his 10 overs for only 23 runs.

The other three wickets were shared between the seamers Mashrafe bin Mortaza, Manjural Islam and Tapash Baisya.

I am glad Ehsanul has done well and probably has earned himself a berth for the first WC match. He also gives us a bowling option. More importanly, we do not have to look towards a Rokon or a Sumon all the time. I hope he sticks around to at least the 45th over or so. We can clearly lose from here on, unless we at least have two more partnerships of reasonable size (30-40 each).

Default Tushar vs. Ehsanul

If we include Tushar or Ehsanul, that will mean that Ashraful or Sanwar or Sujon will not play.

Ehsanul seems to be playing a more comfortable innings today compared to Tushar:

27.5 Benkenstein to Tushar Imran, one run, almost playing on to stumps

33.2 Lazarus to Tushar Imran, no run, oooh hit straight to Benk at cover...oooh dropped

I don't know who is likely to be more consistent going forward though...my priors would have led me to think Tushar...not sure after today.

Default COOL Head

That's all we need from here on ....
I do thank the KZN management for fielding their second string bowling line up. This is probably how good CANADA will be. Gives our players a good shot at chasing a challenging total and also gives them an option to find out if THEY can win it or they simply repeat the 'tir e eshe tori dubano' routine.

Default Tushar OUT

Tushar OUT...serious possibility of the all-too-familiar quick collapse unless we get a solid partnership out of Ehsanul and Kapali right here....

Default Tusher

He will be missed in the first match. I see sanwar coming back. Who should ash replace ? Sumon ? My vote goes for Sumon.

34.1 Anderson to Tushar Imran, OUT: stepping forward to drive Stewart
acting quick knocking off the bails

Bangladeshis 185/4, Partnership of 29
Tushar Imran st Stewart b Anderson 18 (25b 2x4 0x6)
Ehsanul Haque 50* (64b 4x4) J Anderson 3.1-0-16-1 (1w)

Default Keep Sumon....

I think Sumon should stay in the batting line-up. Even though he did throw his wicket today, he is one of the few batsmen with experience who we know can perform if he wants. I think it would be unwise to play without him...although someone might want to give him a JHARI before the next match.

I had written this part earlier today to be posted at night. I have now added Ehsanul to my team. This gives 8 bowling options.

I think against test teams we should definitely have 5 frontline bowlers in the form of Masri, Manju, Tapash, Talha and Rafiq. Then comes the (sort of) all rounders in Kapali and Ashraful. So we have 7 bowling options. Plus of course Rokon, Sumon, Hannan/Ehsanul and Pilot. Surely, this is a little weak in batting, with a relatively long tail. The way our batsmen bat most of the time the entire team looks like the tail. I really think that now, our bowling is better than our batting. One batsman more, or less, may not make much of a difference, but one regular bowler versus one part-timer could make a huge difference. Nothing will please me more than seeing that our batsmen prove me totally wrong. (They have done so a little bit today). Excluding the 5 specialist bowlers this side really has 6 batsmen. However, against non-test teams we can drop one of the 4 pace bowlers and include another batsman - probably Sanwar. The other 3 players - Shujon, Ehsanul/Hannan, and Tushar may be included, depending on injury or lack of form of others. If there is a place for Shujon I will back him as experience will matter also.

Replace Sumon? No! Before replacing Sumon, lets do away with Hannan that waste of space! Ash in place of Hannan and Sanwar in place of Tushar I say. Otherwise, this team is fine.

This match must have done a world of good to Ehsanul. It would be nice for him to reach 100. However, victory would be nicer.

Default Math 101 for Seezan

BD needs 21 runs off 44 balls.
He needs 17 runs for century .. let's see how it goes.

Now, 14 runs of 38 balls
Seezan needs 13.

This a very solid performance. I hope it gives them the confidence they need before embarking on the proper tournament.

Default WE WON

Big win I'd say .... 5 wicket win with 23 balls to go.... Think of the possibilities
All this because our top order finally showed some responsibility.
