Who needs a batting coach, when our batting is better than ever?

The more coaches the better. I'm sure his coaching expertise will be appreciated by our batsmen.

I think it would be too good to be true if BCB appoints him as a specialist batting coach but I would really like if he atleast gets a team in BPL to coach just so the ties with Bangladesh remains. No doubt he is very enthusiastic about the cricket and culture of this country. No matter how little the work he would do with our boys is beneficial.

Will be waste of money. Better clear those unpaid BPL money to Ian Pont & others first, then think about new budget & recruitment.

No doubt he will be an outstanding batting/assistant coach but BCB must find a good head coach first. However I don't see BCB hiring Siddons again after his post termination outburst against BCB.

I think we have to give recognition to Jamie for manufacturing a better Tamim. In Tamim's early days he struggled with the flick shot and pull shot. Siddons has made him stronger in those areas in his game.

Siddons have great passion and love for Bangladesh cricket and during his 4 year tenure of Head Coach, we have had some great success like the 4-0 series win against NZ, repeated series wins against Zimbabwe and overall improvement of batting standards of the national team.

I thank him for his service and wish him all the best.

But I dont want him back in the national folds again.

I too want him as a batting coach. Since it will be a good move it won't happen. BCB hardly ever makes good moves.
People who have genuine love and are well wishers of BD cricket don't get hired. It seems BCB is after the love that never will be and ignore the love that is readily available.

I don’t want him our head coach or even batting coach for the national side. Since he spent 3 years with the team as a head coach, it would be really difficult for him to work under another person (head coach). But nobody could deny his contributions in our national team, specially our batting improved a lot under his supervision. So I don’t want to lose him either if there is a chance to get him back. I believe we could utilize him different way. BCB cricket operation committee can add two more positions, batting adviser and bowling adviser and provide them enough resources and professional environment to work our overall batting and bowling improvement. Batting adviser: may have the following rsponsibilities:

1) He will make recommendation to the BCB time to time how could we improve players batting techniques for different age groups, academy, A and national team and implement the recommendations.

2) Arrange one week camp with the nation team before any series.

3) Arrange week long camp for academy, A and age groups in every quarter of the year.

4) Help local batting coach by arranging training for them.

5) As a member of cricket operation committee, he will also keep in touch with all the coaches of national, A, academy and age groups and provide them his support and expertise.

Bowling adviser will have almost similar rolls (bowling perspective.). So Jimi will be a betting fit as a batting adviser.

Personally Siddon lost my support when he keep on insisting to keep a barebone core group of players even though some of them were not going anywhere with their progress. And mentioned he would like to stick with the same core of players if his contract is extended. Think about that... if he is still here... there would be no Nasir... no A(E)namul ... no Shohag Gazi... no Abul.... no Zia..... no Saiful in the current team.

Plus as someone already mentioned, he burnt the bridge with BCB. Its hard to belive that BCB will hire him back in a reducred role ...no employer likes an employee who bad mouth their past Employer.

yes one of the negatives of siddons, that's why if he is brought back it should only be as batting coach and not head coach.

Very good coach. But doubt BCB has USD 250K annual budget for a batting coach.

Would love to have him back as a batting coach but we'd need a regime change. As for his criticism, he said the same things others have, that ours is not the most professional of set ups. They guy is passionate and the Aussie batting has never been the same since he left.

If expense is not an issue I would go for Ponting, Lara or even Hussey.

I say hire him for a 6 month stint, or for training camps.

Just curious, what the point of that would be. When in temporary basic, it is to teach a few tricks. He had lots of time for that.

So, I think if we get him, we need to get him as permanent batting coach, which is not a bad idea at all. But not as a head coach.

Ponting and Hussey literally just quit cricket. I think coaching is not even the last thing on their mind right now. Plus just because they were great batsman's doesn't mean they will become great coaches. These guys have been playing cricket for so long, batting is like A,B,C to them. Somethings they just do it because its just that easy to them, but that doesn't necessarily mean they can teach it to other people as well as they can do it themselves.

Who ever thought Andy FLower can lead a British army to invade India after decades of failure? It is all about tips. Probably they will need a course on diversified communication and sports psychology before start. May be a specialized coaching crash course.

It may be a challenging thing for Ponting. He might start sledging to his students for not listening and get more and more anxious as he has that nagging attitude of a true Aussie. Whether Hussey given the calm and coolness can become a better coach who can fix errors of his students with persevered patience. In case of Lara, I think making him talk would be the toughest part. If he does not like you, you may even will not know it for years after he left.

It was a proposal. BCB can find out whether any of the three available to coach. You are correct about my wishful thinking; coaching may be the last thing in the great minds of the triple.

PS: Steve Waugh is still most wanted in the wish list of coaches in BC.

Bringing him back in the national team staff will create unnecessary complication. His presence may bring back old divide among players, which is the last thing we want to see re-emerge. However, I won't mind to see him conducting off season batting camps for our batsmen from time to time.
