Default Questions for BC exclusive interview of Naimur Rahman Durjoy

I am going to take an interview of our first Test captain Naimur Rahman Durjoy who is currently working as a national selector.

Most of you are aware that BanglaCricket is taking exclusive interviews of former national skippers, this will be our fourth interview after Khaled Mahmud, Akram Khan and Aminul Islam Bulbul.

Durjoy has kindly agreed to give us some time tomorrow for the interview. I have my own set of questions, but I will highly appreciate inputs from the members.

Please post your questions here.

How great is Alok Kapali?

On a serious note, how worried the selectors are about the openners? With Nafees's prolonged lack of form and no obvious replacements (Imrul/Junaids too early) are they thinking about cloning JO?

Excellent question. Adding it to the question set.

Does BCB have a goal for the 2011 world cup?
If so, what are those and what measurements will be taken to reach to that point?

What i meant is im curious to know whether bcb have set themselves and the team a plan for a target to be acheived in the next world cup which will be held in the subcontinent.

As we achieved to reach 2nd round in the last one, obviously the next target would be to do better.

Just going with the flow wont take us there. We need a vision and the means to implement those visions.

What are those, if bcb have any...
(yes, im trying to think long term here)

Sydney, it's a very good question but I think it will be more appropriate to ask Gazi Aharaf Hossain Lipu (who is the next in line for BC exclusive interview) about BCB's planning or vision for the next world cup as he is the head of BCB's cricket operations committee.

What do you think?

I think you are right Miraz Bhai...
Well, i didnt know he was next in line.
He IS the head of the operations committee, this is probably his jurisdiction.

Alright, I am taking your question for Lipu.

Do you want to ask any question to Durjoy?

What is the new selection committee's policy on introducing new players to the international scene (obviously, keeping in mind that every case is unique)?

You have definitely seen my script.

This is the second question I am going to ask.

Has BCB got any plan to bring in bowling coach for Bangladesh in near future ? Short term or long term.

But most important questions are

What does the selection commitee think of current bowling attack?

Will we see any new face in our pace attack ?

Will they go with 3 SLA like last year ?

does durjoy believe in the "young, talented, and full of potential" model of selection we have used with moderate success for the last 5 years or does he favor the "experience and production" model?

further, how many chances should a new but talented player get at Test level before being dropped?

As NCL has been revamped, but certain things still not resolved. Like quality of pitches in few venues, with limited amount of time in hand, how we will prepare our batsmen to face NZ bowlers? In bouncy wicket how our top batters will survive?

Siddons requested to work with few number of players (probably 20), are we including previous national players and then adding 9 more players? How we will be selecting those players? on NCL performance basis?

We drop lots of catches in slip and other close fielding regions. There will be lots of edges, but are we doing any specific fielding training to rectify that error? Shouldn't we place a very good player(sometimes very good batsmen with good reflex hand-eye cordination)?

What type of batsmen would they prefer for next few tours? Mature and less talented ones like JO? Or highly talented inexperienced young ones like Zunaed?

al Furqaan, can you please elaborate a bit on your ""experience and production" model?

Thanks SS and Warwolf, I will note the questions.

Ishtiaque bhaijan, he is a selector now.

It will be great if he freely shares his thought about the selection process with us. I will defnitely give a try to unearth as much information as possible.

What are the odds of players over 25 getting a nod in the future, given that the previous panels have been reluctant to include past discards who are beyond a certain age line? Have the likes of Rokon and Seezan been left out of the A team for a genuine lack of ability to excel in international cricket, or was it simply because the selectors were keen on employing younger players?

Miraz bhai I think you misread the post. I dont think Beamer bhai was being bosssy. It might have been a sarcastic question since you are a big haba fan. At least to me it did not seem offending at first read.

There are lots of underperformers in our current national players. How our current national selectors try to motivate these underperformers to gain their forms back?

I am not so sure about that. It looked pretty bossy to me.

I hope you are right, in that case I will be happy to edit my post.

Hey man..leave me out of it. Last line is not appreciated.

That was just a question, an important one, and after all his inclusion will be questioned by all quarters judging by his performance from the last year up until now. Where do you see arrogance? Or, you just want cheerleaders here that have to toe your views and party lines?

Thanks layperson. You got it. It was a genuine question though with a tad obvious bit of sarcasm.
