Default Burning Q: Can Bangladesh take 17 English WK

England has lost 3 wickets so far in the first innings. Can Bangladesh take 17 more English wicket in next 3 days to win the 2nd test??

what are your thoughts?

We lack the kind of bolwing firepower that you need to take 20 wickets in Test cricket. If we're going to pick up the rest of the 17 here, Shakib will have to do his magic. Then again, if the pitch cracks open, you never know what could happen. Then again then again, Swann could get ten more when we come to bat.

17 wickets are not enough. Our bowler need take 20+ wickets due to biasness of umpire, errors of Mushy and other fielders.

Our bowling looked a long, long way short of test match standard during the first test. It's been years since a Bangladeshi test match attack looked quite so pedestrian.

However, there are apparently some fairly substantial cracks opening up in this pitch and it could well be a bit of a minefield come day 5. Shakib, Razzak and Mahmudullah could very well start looking like world beaters in that event.

One thing's for sure however, we won't take 20 wickets if our seam attack continues to be as completely and hopelessly toothless as it has been during the last 4 test matches. And on that note, I have to say, Rubel did himself a lot of credit today. A remarkably big-hearted bowling performance that would have done Merv Hughes proud, and the reverse swing he got reminded me why I was so excited about his introduction to the side in the first place. More of the same tomorrow would be very welcome, and completely neccessary if we have any designs on actually winning this game.

I think our spinners should be able to remove the last three England batsmen very easily indeed. They're utterly clueless against spin but some much improved captaincy from Shakib and a contribution from the seamers are essential for making inroads into the middle order tomorrow.

Simply hasn't got enough in his locker to be a test bowler, and especially not on pitches like the one today.

Including Prior, England got only 6 specialist batsmen. So, the main challenge is to get first 5 wickets. Our spinners will prolly find it much easier to get through the tail.

It totally depends how the pitch plays its role in next 3 days. If it deteriorates significantly, then we might have a slim chance of taking 17 wickets. But I am not too optimistic about this.

Probably not. This is a very difficult wicket to take 20 wickets.

The Guardian report that Ian posted referred to some big cracks in the pitch, and the prospect of it deteriorating appreciably.

I'd like it to be true, although my stream is too low quality to make out any cracks in the pitch and it certainly doesn't look like it's deteriorated at all from day 1 to day 2.

Anything can happen, Allah Willing. We may not have fire power like Taits, Boulinger, Aameer, Asif, Styne, Morkel, Malinga or Murali but minimum we can do dry out run. There may not have enough in the pitch, hence urgency in taking wicket, I am certainly sure there is urgency in making run as quickly as possible. They do not want repeat of Chittagong. So, pressure is on them, and they bound to make mistake, all we need to do hold our end very tight. Inshallah, we will get their wickets with a good lead. And bat through to the last session of the 4th day.

We are getting ahead of ourselves. Why 17?? One step at a time. First we should think of getting 7 wickets and THEN we should worry about bowling them all out. Because, the effect of taking 7 more wickets with us leading will pile on the pressure that may making it easier to build upon it and take the 10 more wickets. But if you think of a chunk 17 wickets look close to possible..

Yes, it's all about the pressure. The only reason the English media is making so much noise is because England are trailing by a lot. It's an advantage that we could have had in the first Test too had it not been for a stupid decision at the toss.

No.

Not only for the wicket, but also not to take an extra bowler in the team.

I will be satisfied if we pull off a draw in this Test.

It is highly likely that we will have a collapse in the 2nd innings and England will win and all the good works will go in vain.

I do not want that to happen. First of all, do not collapse in the 2nd innings.
