Bangladesh bowling crisis deepens with Rubel injury
DHAKA (Reuters) - Bangladesh's depleted bowling attack received another injury blow when paceman Rubel Hossain was ruled out of the reminder of the one-day series against Zimbabwe with a side strain on Tuesday.
Rubel is the third senior Bangladeshi bowler to be struck down through injury since the side departed for back-to-back tours in the West Indies and Zimbabwe in June.
Skipper Mashrafe Mortaza and left-arm spinner Abdur Razzak have already returned home and were replaced by Nazmul Hossain and Enamul Haque Jr respectively for the Zimbabwe series.
Mortaza fell awkwardly while bowling on the third day of the first test against West Indies at St Vincent last month, where he limped off the field and has been sidelined since.
The paceman underwent successful arthroscopic surgery on both knees in Melbourne on Monday but will be out of action for at least six more weeks.
Razzak was ruled out of Zimbabwe series after picking up a hamstring problem while batting in the third one-day international against the West Indies at St Kitts.
Two days later, Rubel suffered a side strain during the only Twenty20 International of that series. He travelled with the team to Zimbabwe but did not play.
Right-arm pacer Dollar Mahmud has been recalled to replace Rubel, who will return home.
Bangladesh lead the five-match series 1-0 after an eight-wicket victory in the first match at Bulawayo on Sunday.

Until Tapash Baiysa is in the first string, I refuse to acknowledge any so-called "bowling crisis".

Dollar Mahmud has been recalled to replace Rubel? That is a nutcase decision. Dollar has an economy rate of 9.61 in ODI, even in list A, he has an economy rate of 5.71. How can you play him in any form of international game with this kind of economy rate? I just don't understand the logic of the selectors. What they expect- a miracle? They are dumber than I thought- so pathetic.

Crisis for some creates opportunity for others.
Nobody is irreplacable for long time.
Lets see which young guns pick it up and make a case for himself.
These are the times when a man distinguish himself from the boys.
If its not Dollar, it will be somebody else in near future. Opportunity doesn't knock in your door for ever... to I say... grab it and make a case for yourself.

He wont play any way. If we need a third pacer, we still have Robin.

wat the hell is physio doing ??? Cant he be more proactive ? Injury is his department of function. So many of bowlers are getting injured bcoz of hamstring, cramp etc ! Sorry guys, i cant see any contribution of this physio other than running into the field with some First Aid box ! He should be questioned asap !

Rubel has only played a handful of games for BD, I think it's a bit much for Reuters to be calling him a "senior Bangladeshi bowler" in the smae vein as razzak and Mashrafe!

HHS; on top of it he is only 19. All BD pieces are done by non-cricketing reporters?
