I think Ashraful should open with Tamim and we can try someone else in the middle order like Naeem/Marshall etc

He's scored more than 20 in 10 out of 13 Test innings he's played so far. I can't understand why he has these brain freezes once he's got a start. He just gifted his wicket away today.

Fail to cement his place in absence of bijoy. Now Bijoy will be back vs NZ as a opener

Bijoy has is shaky at the start but at least he makes it count when he gets set. SJ needs to sort out his footwork ASAP

Omi will have only himself to blame. He's never made use of his chances.

Just about to get frustrated with this guy, and no I am not talking about his recent innings or him unable to convert any of them. And if you argue that he is atleast getting some starts, look how many chances he is giving out, look how many times he gets out looking nervous. In my opinion, he might be only good enough for a 20, not a run making machine.

How many times do I have to say this? I hate to be right on this, but he is not the answer.

He looked really good in the middle when I saw him bat, but threw it away. Everyone else, including Shak, fished a lot outside offstump and played at most stuff in the testing channel. I really do think a good batting coach would've made a hell lot of difference in his case. He's still the best option for the position I'd say. At least he is consistently getting a good partnership going at the top.

That may solve the instability at #3, but I am afraid we will dig bigger hole with Ashraful batting as opener.

Atleast Jahirul can stay in the wicket long enough even though he ends up throwing his wicket at the end.

As other people already mentioned, when Anam comes, Jahirul may have to give the slot. But then he or Anam may replace Ashraful at #3, you neve know. Now a days with so many options available one century may not buy you more than one free series. Just look at Naeem. Also looks like management is taking more bold decisions ... even they didn;t hesitate to drop the VC.

Hate to be harsh here, but if he fails to notch up a 50 in the next innings, then I'd seriously think about giving Shamsur a run in the limited overs leg of the tour. He's had 24 innings combined in Tests and ODI's and has scored only 1 50. I know he's notched many 40's but for an opener, that's still not good enough and while he's doing a part of his job, he's not doing his job completely which he should be at this level.

So a very important innings comes up for him in the next innings of this match.

all these failures after he was dropped early too... a better side would have held on to those catches he gave and Jahi's score would have looked much worse

Dont think Shamsur will do any better... If he dosent have a 70+ by the end of the series drop him. Liked him as a person but he is not Test material. Stick to shorter formats.

How do you know Shamsur won't do any better? Might as well give him a try if Omi fails the next innings. If guys like Imrul, Junaid, SN and Jahurul can get chances then why not Shamsur?

For what will sahmsur be selected for? BPL 50s?? Recipe for disaster..Anam will be back for NZ series and replace Omi most likely unless he does something remarkable in the 2nd innings ..Shamsur is in line though as there is no other option atm.

If you want to use that logic then might as well bring up all our top order batsmen's stats up and put it out here. I agree though Anamul will most likely take the spot once he comes back

I actually think it's worth giving Jahurul more chances. He always gets his starts but for some reason he cant go on to make bigger totals. But yes if he keeps failing then i think our only option is persisting with Anamul. Other then that i dont see any other option. Ashraful could also open the innings and Mominul can be pushed up to #3 and fir Ayub/Naeem into the middle order.

1, Tamim Iqbal
2. Mohammad Ashraful
3. Mominul Haque
4. Naeem Islam
5. Shakib Al Hasan
6. Mushfiqur Rahim
7. Nasir Hossain

This is how i see it

Jahurul < Nafees < Junaid < Kayes < Nazim

So he should stay as long he has only competition from these contenders.
Now I wanna see how Shamsu fits into this equation in ODIs to start with.

Anamul might have more talent than Jahurul but at the moment in terms of outcomes, he is almost even if not worse with Jahurul. Both needs to be tested more for a comparison.
