Kitply Cup Tri series : June 8th – 14th 2008

Kitply Industries Limited of India have been confirmed as the Title Sponsors of the Bangladesh-India-Pakistan Tri-Series which has been named Kitply Cup.


I am a bit surprised to see the name of Kitply. Axiom bought the sponsor rights quite cheaply and they have probably made a good business out of it.

Now, if Axiom can attract Indian companies, what's wrong with our BCB media and advertising committee?

Here's the logo for the tri-series.

Kitply is producing plywood......what is about all cell phone companies? They used to sponsor cricket series in recent years.

I think finally they (cell phones) realized that just because you have money doesn't mean that you should dump it to the drain.

Companies sponsors events so that they get good return and end product. In recent time so far BCB is providing shittty products. BCB needs to realize that and re-adjust their prioirty and goals and come up with better product.... otherwise money will dry up sonner than latter.

Sakhawat Doula Robin - pura fhataifelsey. According to him, to celebrate another eid-ul Ashraful the team has to do following:

1. Ash needs to get rid of his "daiittoganheen" batting.
2. Tamim-Aftab needs to click timely.
3. Mushi needs to show what he showed in premier league.
4. Jr. needs to do more than what he has ever done for the team.
5. Abdur Razzak needs to get back in to form.
6. Mash has to carry the entire load of the team.

ঢাকা, ১৪ জুলাই (বিডিনিউজ টোয়েন্টিফোর ডটকম) --- বাংলাদেশ ক্রিকেট বোর্ডের (বিসিবি) কাছে অদ্ভুত এক আবদার জানিয়ে বসেছে এক্সিওম টেকনোলজিস নামের মার্কেটিং এজেন্ট, যারা সাড়ে ছয় লাখ ডলারে কিনেছিল ত্রিদেশীয় কিটপ্লাই সিরিজের টাইটেল স্পনসরশিপ। টুর্নামেন্ট শেষ হওয়ার একমাস পর এখন প্রতিষ্ঠানটির ব্যবস্থাপনা পরিচালক রিজওয়ান বিন ফারুক ব্যাপক লোকসানের মুখ দেখেছেন বলে চিঠি দিয়ে জানিয়েছেন বিসিবিকে। শুধু তাই নয়, সাড়ে তিন লাখ ইউএস ডলারের লোকসান পুষিয়ে নিতে তাকে ১ লাখ ২৫ হাজার ডলার ফেরত দেওয়ারও অনুরোধ করেছেন চিঠিতে। চুক্তি ও নিয়ম বহির্ভুত এমন আবদারের পর বোর্ড কর্মকর্তারা রীতিমতো বিস্মিত।

একজনের কাছে ওই দাবিকে ঠিক এরকমই মনে হচ্ছে, "এ তো দেখছি মামার বাড়ীর আবদার। তা হয় নাকি? লাভ হলে কী উনি লভ্যাংশের একটা অংশ বিসিবিকে দিয়ে দিতেন?" রোববার নিম্বাসের সঙ্গে বিসিবির দীর্ঘমেয়াদী চুক্তি স্বাক্ষর অনুষ্ঠানে উপস্থিত বোর্ড সদস্যদের প্রত্যেকের হাতে ওই চিঠির অনুলিপিও দিয়ে গেছেন রিজওয়ান। মিডিয়া কমিটির ভাইস চেয়ারম্যান ইশতিয়াক আহমেদও চিঠি পাওয়ার কথা স্বীকার করেছেন, তবে কোনো মন্তব্য করতে চাননি। আর বিসিবির ভারপ্রাপ্ত প্রধান নির্বাহী কর্মকর্তা নিজামউদ্দিন চৌধুরী সুজনের ভাষ্য, "টাকা ফেরত চেয়ে দেওয়া চিঠিটা আমরা পেয়েছি। এখন এটা সংশ্লিষ্ট কমিটির (কমার্শিয়াল কমিটি) কাছে পাঠিয়ে দেওয়া হবে। এ ব্যাপারে তারাই সিদ্ধান্ত দেবেন।"

কমার্শিয়াল কমিটির চেয়ারম্যান মির্জা সালমান ইস্পাহানী চট্টগ্রাম থেকে টেলিফোনে বিডিনিউজ টোয়েন্টিফোর ডটকম-কে বলেছেন, "চিঠিটা এখনো আমার কাছে এসে পৌছায়নি। তাই বলতে পারছি না ওতে কী দাবি করা হয়েছে। তবে যদি অর্থ ফেরত চাওয়া হয়ে থাকে, তাহলে বলবো এধরনের কিছু চুক্তিতে নেই। এটা কোনো নিয়মের মধ্যেই পড়ে না।" চিঠি দেওয়ার কথা লুকাননি এক্সিওম টেকনোলজিসের ব্যবস্থাপনা পরিচালক রিজওয়ান বিন ফারুকও। কিন্তু কিসের ভিত্তিতে তিনি অর্থ ফেরত চাইলেন, এই প্রশ্ন করা হলে "এই মুহূর্তে আমি একটা মিটিংয়ে আছি। এখন কথাই বলতে পারবো না। ১৫ মিনিট পরে ফোন করুন" বলে তিনি ফোন রেখে দেন। ১৫ মিনিট পর বারবার চেষ্টা করা হলেও তিনি ফোন ধরেননি।

গত ফেব্র"য়ারিতে দক্ষিণ আফ্রিকা হোম সিরিজের সময়ই ক্রিকেটের দৃশ্যপটে আবির্ভাব এই এক্সিওম টেকনোলজিসের। টেন্ডারে সর্বোচ্চ দর দিয়ে পাওয়া টাইটেল স্পনসরশিপ তারা বিক্রি করেছিল ওয়ারিদ টেলিকমের কাছে। কিটপ্লাই কাপের টেন্ডারেও তারা অংশ নেয়, তবে দর দেয় মাত্র এক লাখ ইউএস ডলারের (ফ্লোর প্রাইস ছিল পাঁচ লাখ ইউএস ডলার)। তাদের চেয়ে বেশি দর দেওয়া অ্যাডটাচ নামের প্রতিষ্ঠানের সঙ্গে আলোচনার সময়ও তারা দর বাড়িয়ে নিয়ে আসেনি। নিম্ন দরে হতাশ বিসিবি যখন টেন্ডার প্রক্রিয়া বাতিল করে সমঝোতার ভিত্তিতে স্পনসরের বন্দোবস্ত করছিল, তখনই এক্সিওম নিয়ে আসে সাড়ে ছয় লাখ ডলারের প্রস্তাব। কিন্তু বিসিবির অ্যাকাউন্টে টাকা জমা দেওয়া নিয়ে তাদের টালবাহানায় একপর্যায়ে ত্রিদেশীয় সিরিজের স্পনসরশিপই অনিশ্চিত হয়ে পড়েছিল।

আর বিসিবির কাছে এক্সিওমের টাকা ফেরত চাওয়ার ঘটনা নাকি এটাই প্রথম নয়। আয়ারল্যান্ড সিরিজের পরও টাকা ফেরত চেয়ে হতাশ হতে হয়েছিল রিজওয়ানকে। কমার্শিয়াল কমিটির চেয়ারম্যান মির্জা সালমান ইস্পাহানী তেমনই জানিয়েছেন, "আয়ারল্যান্ড সিরিজ দেখিয়েছিল বিটিভি। জানেন, ওদের কারিগরী সীমাবদ্ধতা আছে। সেসময় চারটি গ্রাউন্ড ম্যাটের দুটো নাকি টিভিতে ঠিকমতো দেখা যায়নি। এজন্য এক্সিওম থেকে ক্ষতিপূরণ চাওয়া হয়েছিল। কিন্তু আমরা তো তখনো টাকা ফেরত দেইনি।"
