Here are the batting stats for ODIs. Quite interesting that Imrul Kayes and Hannan Sarkar lead the way (though Imrul has only played one match against them) - http://stats.espncricinfo.com/ci/eng...s;type=batting

Just click on the All Test/ODI/T20i tab for the batting stats across the board. According to this, we should get Junaid back...

And Habibul Bashar is the absolute boss in Tests against Pakistan. 6 50s and a century in 12 innings - an average of 50+!

Zeeshan - you'll have to downgrade Razab's rating in the rate circketing knowledge thread. I was going to rate him the only 9, but now he falls all the way down to 2.

Dont agree with either 'BNG', 'Bang' or 'BD'. We can use these informally but when it comes to International Events like playing other nations, i would rather want our official name 'PRB' (People's Republic of Bangladesh, its our Official name) Just as South Africa is refered as 'RSA' (Republic of South Africa).

@Equinox - thanks man. I got my K surnames mixed up I see.
@Zee bhai - dang man that's harsh. C'mon pick any cricketing topic and give me another chance. The term "sticky wicket" - know which bowler brought it into vogue w/o googling? Didja know Sobers was originally selected as an SLA/chinaman bowler? That the Ashra-scoop/Dilscoop was actually invented by Doug Marillier of Zim? That an SLA is more effective on a wicket with bounce than a slow turner? Gimme a shot chief!

I bet these same officials probably have Urdu spouting Imams at their domestic religious functions. I recall once I got into it with an Imam who was obviously young enough to have NOT been schooled during Pakistan years, spouting "aaagar aap na hain jindegime" in the middle of his "ya naabi salaam-walaika".

Double that are you freaking kidding me.

Who comes first depends on where you are and what sport you play. And I doubt there is even such an accepted convention in Bangladesh.

In fact, in the US of A, the home team is always the 2nd mention. So Pakistan vs Bangladesh would make sense to any American. They can, in a glance, tell that Pakistan is the touring team.

The convention started from the early days of baseball, when the visitors batted first and the visitors' name was listed first in the score-sheet. Also, reporters used 'at' as an alternate, viz Philadelphia at Dallas (Go Eagles! stomp them Cowboys).

Interestingly, most all team competitive sports in the US is in home-away basis - even and especially in schools.

Urdu has been the lingua franca for subcontinental Muslims since the Mughal times. The Mughal rulers were ethnically Persians/Afghans and the court language was thus Persian. But for the commoners Urdu became more conventional and remained the dominant Muslim language in the subcontinent.

Thus we have to stop associating Urdu with only Pakistan. Even to this day from the Pathans of Peshawar/NWF to the Indian Muslims of the North to the southern Tamil Telugu belt of India, Urdu is the language for Muslims. They have their own languages such as Pashto, Punjabi, Dari, Kannada, Malaylam but for Muslims Urdu remained as the main spoken language.

An example might be the development of Yiddish for European Ashkenazi Jews. They are ethnically Polish, German, Russian but Yiddish remained as the lingua franca for these people beside their main language Hebrew. Personally I would never speak Urdu with anyone and strongly would object if its used for ANY of our nationaI purposes. But if the imams are using for religious purposes, my objection won't be that strong.

Urdu was an artificial language created by the Mughals so that Army would have a common language. By time the original Arabic, Chagatai Turk, and Persian got blended together to form Urdu. It does not have its roots in any of the Indo-European Languages of which Sanskrit and Germanic are the primes.

Exactly zsayeed bhai. You have described it perfectly. I would never tolerate using Urdu for any purposes in Bangladesh due to obvious reasons. But for religious reasons I might be lenient. Anyway I apologize for going off-topic.

Back on topic, lets win the T20 match!

@Mufi - I'm aware of Urdu's history and do not associate it with just Pakistan. In this particular context however, you'll note I pointed out that the Imam had been assuredly schooled mostly post-71. Since he hadn't attended Aligarh and Madrasas in BD have not used Urdu as a language of instruction from at least 71, his choice of language was just an apish copying of his gurujons. He could and should have done better.
