কোচ বলেছিলেন,“আমার প্রথম এবং প্রধান লক্ষ্য হবে দলের র্যাঙ্কিংয়ে উন্নতি ঘটনা। সেক্ষেত্রে দলীয় সফল্যই যে নতুন কোচের দর্শন হবে এনিয়ে কোন সন্দেহ নেই। জেমি সিডন্স ক্রিকেটারদের ব্যক্তিগত স্কিল নিয়ে বেশি কাজ করেছেন। ল তার সমন্বয়ে দলীয় পারফরমেন্সের ওপর গুরুত্ব দেবেন। সংবাদ সম্মেলনে বলছিলেন,“আমি এই আসনে বসে অনুমান করতে চাই না। আমি তাদের (ক্রিকেটার) অনেক দিক নিয়ে কাজ করবো। আমি প্রথমে খেলোয়াড়দেরকে দেখবো। তারা কি করতে পাওে। সামর্থ জেনে নেওয়ার পরই মন্তব্য করা যাবে। আমি আগেই অনেক মন্তব্য করতে চাই না। আমরা তো এখানে ছুটি কাটাতে আসিনি নিশ্চয় কাজ করতে এসেছি। আমরা বাংলাদেশ দলের ক্রিকেটারদের কিছু শেখাতে চাই যা তাদেরকে ভালো টেস্ট খেলুরে দলে পরিণত হতে সাহায্য করবে"

ঢাকায় ক্রিকেট কোচের প্রথম দিন 
ছুটির দিন হওয়ায় জাতীয় দলের কোচদ্বয়ের আগমনে মিরপুর শেরেবাংলা জাতীয় স্টেডিয়াম তেমন সরগরম হয়নি। দু’জন কোচের পাশে মাত্র দু’জন কর্মকর্তা! দৃশ্যটি দেখার পর চোখ স্নায়্যুতন্ত্রের মাধ্যমে মস্তিস্কে বার্তা পাঠিয়ে গরমিলটা ধরিয়ে দেয়। কই বেদেশি কোচের পেছনে কর্মকর্তাদের মিছিল কোথায়। আসলে বাংলাদেশে কোন বিদেশি কোচ এলে কর্মকর্তাদের ভিড় দেখে অভ্যস্ত সাংবাদিকদের চোখ। সেখানে ফাকা ফাকা দেখতে অস্বস্তি তো লাগবেই। ভোরে সূর্য উঁকি দেওয়ার সময় ঢাকার মাটিতে পা রেখেছেন জাতীয় দলের প্রধান কোচ স্টুয়ার্ট ল এবং ফিল্ডিং কোচ জেসন সুইফট। হজরত শাহজালাল আন্তর্জাতিক বিমানন্দর থেকে বাক্সপেটরা বুঝে পেয়ে সোজা হোটেল কক্ষে। ভ্রামণ কান্তি ঝেরে ফেলতে কয়েক ঘন্টার বিশ্রাম নিয়ে আসল জায়গায় পদার্পণ। আসল জায়গা বলতে মিরপুর শেরেবাংলা স্টেডিয়ামের কথা বলা হচ্ছে। একজন কোচের জন্য তো ক্রিকেট মাঠই আসল জায়গা। অস্ট্রেলিয়ান বংশোদ্ভুত কোচ দ্বয় যখন হোম অব ক্রিকেটে পৌঁছান ততক্ষণে জিপি-বিসিবি একাডেমির বিপক্ষে জাতীয় দলের দুইদিনের ম্যাচ শেষ হয়ে গেছে। অভিভাবকের আগমনে সাজঘরে বসে থাকতে পারেন না ক্রিকেটাররা। ক্রিকেট পরিচালনা বিভাগের আহবানে জিম্বাবুয়ে সফরের জন্য নির্বাচিত জাতীয় দলের খেলোয়াড়রা অর্ধবৃত্তাকারে দাঁড়য়ে যান কোচের সামনে। ল অভিভাবক সুলভ ভঙ্গিতে সৌজন্য বিনিময় করেন। ফিল্ডিং কোচের সঙ্গেও পরিচয় হয় ক্রিকেটারদের। দেখা হবে বলে প্রাথমিক আলোচনা শেষ। নতুন কোচের আগমে বেশি বেতিব্যস্ত ছিলেন সংবাদকর্মীরা। বিশেষ করে ফটো সাংবাদিক এবং টিভি চ্যানেলের ভিডিও সাংবাদিকরা। দেখে যে কারো মনে হবে ভিন দেশের বিশেষ অতিথির আগমন ঘটেছে। পৌনে চারটার দিকে দুই কর্মকর্তার সঙ্গে চা চক্রে যোগ দিলেন কোজ দ্বয়। নির্ধারিত সময়ে সংবাদ সম্মেলনে উপস্থিত হয়ে ভবিষ্যত এবং কর্মপরিকল্পনা নিয়ে প্রশ্নউত্তর পর্ব হলো জাতীয় ক্রিকেট দলের নতুন কোচের। মঙ্গলবার ক্রিকেটারদের বিশ্রাম দেওয়া হয়েছে। বুধবার থেকে শুরু হবে দুই দিনের আরেকটি প্রস্তু ম্যাচ। বাংলাদেশে অস্ট্রেলিয়ান দুই কোচের আনুষ্ঠানিক কার্যক্রমও শুরু হয়ে যাবে তখন থেকে। SOURCE
