Lost and found: U-19 World Cup trophy!!
LAHORE : It was double delight for the World Cup winning junior cricket players of Pakistan .
First they found their lost trophy, won in Dhaka earlier this month, and then have been invited to attend a reception at the President's House on Wednesday, to be hosted in recognition of their feat.
"We have found the trophy we won in Dhaka, Bangladesh and now with the trophy we are going to President's reception on Thursday," team Manager Sultan Rana said.
Pakistan won the ICC junior World Cup in Dhaka beating the West Indies in the final but their maiden triumph at this level was overshadowed due to India 's first full tour of Pakistan since 1989-90.
To rub salt on the wounds the team lost the winning trophy in the unaccompanied luggage from Dubai to Karachi.
"It was unfortunate that our triumph at the junior World Cup was not only overshadowed but it was not taken care of by anyone," laments manager Rana.
"May be, it came at a time when Indian team was coming and people cared less about the junior World Cup. For them India coming to Pakistan was more than our world title."
The manager hoped the team's meeting with President Pervez Musharraf would make the World Cup win something special.
"President's reception will definitely give the boys a chance to savour the win," said Rana.
