Performance criteria:
2600: GM (min 2500 FIDE rating + must face at least 3 GM opponents in 9-round tournament).

Yup - what a change from when I used to play in the 80s - Niaz was the only one. It s unfortunate though that our top players are all in the 2400s or low 2500s... We don't have anyone breaking into the 2600s...

Congrats to Rajib. I guess i can take a little bit of pride from the fact I saw him in his first tournament when he was very young (i was young too!). that was actually my first tournament also!!! Despite these similarities, why am I not a GM?

Congrats Rajib.
If Rajib is granted grand master title by Fide, Bangladesh won't have an international master (not counting woman international master Rani Hamid). After Zia, Rifat, Rakib, and Rajib, I don't see any exciting prospect in Bangladesh chess at this point.

Apart from Rajib's 3rd GM Norm, 2 other young chess players got their 1st IM norm in this tourney

Congrats Rajib, that's approved now. Hope he doesn't think it to be the end of the road like all other GMs.
We aren't yet doing so good in the world championships/other international tournaments. Like to see some of them doing better.
