Default Shabbir Ahmed reported for suspect bowling action

Cricket chiefs have revealed that Pakistan paceman Shabbir Ahmed has been reported for a suspect bowling action.

The report was made by umpires Darrell Hair and Billy Bowden after reviewing footage of the fifth and final one-day international against New Zealand.

"Over the next six weeks Ahmed and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) will have the opportunity to work on any areas of concern," ICC boss David Richardson.

"Ahmed will be able to continue to play during this time."

A PCB spokesman confirmed the report, adding: As per the rules we will work on Shabbir's action after the team's return from New Zealand on Wednesday."

Ahmed was reported twice by ICC match officials in 1999 after one-day tournaments in Toronto and Sharjah.

shabbir definitely needs help to remodel his action. cant believe they took 3 years to remodel his action yet he still has problems. i guess we'll see irshaad brought into the team sooner than expected.

Most bowlers start life with a delivery action they make up themselves. It is then checked by coaches etc and improved or modified. They then reach first class status. Again more coaching and development..they then get picked for their country and again more of the same..so at which point do they make the conscious decision to throw the ball..becuase it must be conscious after all those years of hard work in developing an action..are they after more pace? pressure to keep their place in the team?
