A national biological research project should be undertaken with the goal of growing wings on an Australian Red Poll Heifers breed cow. A peaceful solution will surely be reached the day we see the cow flying in the bright skies of Shahbag.

The loss of human life and property in the current crisis is just unprecedented. Both parties need to take responsibility for his, but I agree with jadukor the govt is responsible for providing security to our people. Anybody who breaks the law needs to punished, I would like them to catch the actual perpetrators of these criminal activities and get a confession of out of them. Going after top opposition leaders without proof does not help to bring stability to the country.

Lets not kid ourselves. The people behind 60 rail attacks in the last two days are BNP leaders and their allies. I find it interesting that people are pointing fingers at the government (just to even out the blame) and forgetting about the people who are actually behind the violence. Very interesting indeed.

^ I won't disagree. BNP is at much fault here. Protest is one thing but torching a bus full of innocent people, rail attacks and all..this is beyond someone's conscience. How low and immoral can someone be to do these kind of things? Mirza Fakhrul is in jail now but if BNP ever comes to power, he will surely become a minister. That is the harsh truth. You kill innocent people this year and become minister next year.

As my signature says...

They are as weak as Pharaoh. May be even worse. The word "forgiveness" is not in their vocabulary. How can they expect forgiveness for themselves?

If they (leaders of our country) consider themselves as Muslims, they have no fear of the HELL fire. The punishment can not be compared to anything. Pharaoh killed his magicians when they fell prostrating to Musa (a)'s God. What he did was he alternatingly cut their feet and arms. And then crucified them on top of palm trees. Trying to show who's punishment is harder. The Magician's reply were you decree what you want to decree. You can only take our life once in this world. Allah's punishment is harsher. May He forgive us.

The solution is there, now can we get the better of the resolvers?

In other countries the politicians and the government are very much aware of their approval rating. I know that Prothom Alo has a "Jonomot Jorip" but we really need an avenue to vent our displeasure to what is going on without the fear of being harrassed by law enforcement or party thugs.

Heard AL promised Ershad 1000 koti taka to participate in the election. As he refused they are after him now. I think he got a better deal from BNP.

I heard the deal was for 140 cr Taka but AL wanted to give him only 30 cr. BNP is giving him 45 cr and 30 seats. Thats why he refused to participate in the election

Again dont have solid proof. Could be rumor too..But whatever the case or the number it may be, Ershad chacchu did not like AL's offer

30 cr or even 140 cr sounds too low for Ershad. But I am not too sure about 1000 cr either. Just heard it from someone moderately reliable. This kind of money is nothing for Hasina/Khaleda/Ershad. But Ershad did a pure digbaji. Jatiyo party is so fractured with 3-4 different panels now. I don't know how he has that much influence. I thought his voting bloc includes only auntie shomaj.

^ That is my question too. The number seems little small thats why I didnt believe it. But my question is Why Ershad Chachu plays a big role in our election with his puny japa. Ershad mojo has deteriorated significantly in Rangpur over the past few years. Its good to be Ershad I guess

The only solution is to wipe the slate clean - which will never happen. These parties will never have the countries interest as A priority, forget the biggest priority. We need Kennedy x 10 in Bangladesh.

Jamaat was a party that was losing its relevance and headng for a slow death in the next decade. They hardly won seats in the parliament that is essesntial to remain in the minds of the people. Thanks to the two feuding politcal parties, the situation has changed now. Not sure how we can come out of this crisis before everything is destroyed.
Seriously need an alternatve to reject both BNP and AL

Any other sane human being who genuinely cares for Bangladesh and her people should step up and run for President. I want to see someone new in politics, like completely new.

Any suggestions? Kamal Hossain, Boda Chowdhury and Mohammad Yunus were complete non-starters. Didn't have enough sense to even work on a combined platform made up of intellectuals. Too busy setting up one-man parties. Bunch of blooody morons, making pronouncements via email from their ivory towers.

Anybody else capable of challenging the status quo?

Relax in 20 years khaleda and hasina will be in their 80s and retired.

Then we'll have true reform with tarek and joy.

BC-er jonogon, do you think an Aam jonotar dol will be successful in BD? Would a single issue party, one based on anti corruption for example, be successful in our local context?

Yes, it will. There is a significant amount of people who have seen enough of BNP & AL.

there is no way there will be a new party which will outplay AL or BNP, there still too many people fond of Khaleda or Hasina or even Ershad.

You are too funny bro...

I can't believe some people in BD are calling the last election as a fair election. My God. Despicable thought process.
