Boston is by far the most racist among all the major east coast cities. They have a 'rich' history of that tradition. Of course, there are racists among all fan bases, and in all cities. But, Boston fans just take it to another level. They were chanting N word to Ward openly at the arena, and not only on twitter. And, of course, enough people has to say it to get it trending on twitter. Its traffic driven. Sad.

Near perfect road game from the Rangers. What a job AV has done in NYC with these guys! Poised and heavy on the puck with just the right burst of speed when need be, these guys *WILL* take full advantage of opportunities handed to them when they're not creating their own. McDonagh and Girardi are seriously good players, and Brassard is a fine young player in the making. I know his hometown Hull in Quebec well. Made some great memories there. On the Pens side, the more I see Stempniak the more I like him.
Terrible defensive errors from the Pens just tilted the ice in the Rangers' favor in the end. Those fatal, back-to-back D-zone turnovers in OT were a painful reminder of our own mediocre defense all season long. We lost no less than 15 effing games in OT because of plays just like that! Scuderi in particular sucks enough to play for Kenny for a lot of money. He's like Quincey or Kindl without any puck carrying ability. Completely crumbles under pressure from decent forecheckers. I see AV exploiting that gaping hole all series long. High time for Crosby to carry his form over to the playoffs. He's the best regular season forward in the league, and needs to make his mark in postseason as well. It has been far too long since he has found the net in the playoffs, and needs to become the big game player he can be.

Hossa just scored to put Chicago ahead 2-0 in the second. I don't see Minny coming back from this, or any team capable of stopping them from getting their 3rd Cup since 2010. What a team! Only they can beat themselves. Reminds me of us from 1995-2009.

I spoke way to soon. What a stunning comeback from Minny to tie the game at 2 a piece with 13:00 left in the third. Chicago decided to get a little complacent and sit on their 2-0 lead and just paid the price. No use whining about the disallowed goal now. Great teams always find a way to win even when the other team has the momentum, and lo and behold, Kane scores a brilliant goal to put Chicago ahead 3-2 just minutes later! Gumption, baby,*GUMPTION*! *THE* most skilled American forward since LaFontaine, bar none. Kessel, even without Bozak, is good but not this good. W-O-W!

I'll be rooting hard for PK and the Habs tonight (22:30 BDST). I hope he continues to suck all the joy out of those racist hearts. Let's go Habs!!!

Babcock ends all speculation before the Griffins game in Grand Rapids.
Quote:
"For sure, I’m staying in Detroit," Babcock said. "I haven’t thought about going anywhere else. The owner is better than great to me. They do things right. They treat people right."
|
He also said he wants to see the rebuilding process he has been working on over the past 5 years through. That means he wants to return to the SCF with these "kids" and the defensive prospects likely to play next year. He's very high on Jonas Bäckman, called him a "very special player", as well as X, Sproul and Marchenko. He just loves Mrazek.

What a period! 1-0 KKKlanstown after 1. A forced neutral zone turnover eventually led to Paille's snapshot which deflected off of Bouillon and changed direction to beat Price. Both goalies are showing just why they're so extraordinary. I'm having a blast watching a French broadcast of the game. Less busy server and less buffering.
Both teams play hard 60-minute hockey with the Habs having a slight edge in speed. Rooting for them hard without the mental toll of supporting my team, and realizing that they play the way Babcock wants us to play. We may have have Zetterberg, Datsyuk and now Nyquist, Tatar and Jurco, but they're significantly better defensively at this moment, and have a far superior goalie. I rate Price all the way up there with Lundqvist, Rask and when on song, Quick and Crawford. Yes, Crawford. No wonder they're here and we're not.
Let's go Habs!!! Watching them win the Cup would be the next best thing this year.

Weaver scores! 1-1 early in the 2nd. The Habs never give up on the puck and the persistence pays off.

Vanek scores! 2-1 Habs. What a wonderfully executed PPG. Stellar assist from Subban. Perfect weight, trajectory and location on that pass for Vanek to tip it in with a deft touch. Wonderful hands on him too. Only the elite of the elite can combine to execute that play. WOW! Subban in particular has poise, vision and confidence beyond his years, MashAllah. Alongside Keith and Weber, we're looking at the best defenseman of our times. Except that Subban has more variety in his game with some hockey vision-related things far superior to the the other two I've mentioned. I think he'll be better than Lidstrom after winning his first Cup. Mr. Norris for years to come InshAllah.
MT is an amazing coach. All his players have to do is listen to him regardless of individual skillset. So elite skilled players like Subban and Vanek can pretty much guarantee Cup contention. He's an artist and a master craftsman out there behind the bench. Letting him go was the biggest mistake the Pens have made. His system won the Cup after he left. That's obvious once you watch the Habs now.

Subban makes it happen again on the PP! 3-1 Habs. What a player dispensing poetic justice out there against KKKtown.

Once you understand the principle of the new Playoff Format, it's totally awesome.
Might as well get rid of the Wild Card and let the top 4 of each Division in, that would be my only gripe

There are lucky bounces and then are freakishly lucky bounces! Bergeron "scores" to tie this at 3. What a fierce comeback from the Bruins. Definite contenders but gotta feel for Price. Not much you can do when the boards and bounces go against you like this, but that's hockey.

@$$hole Lucic makes it 5-3 with the ENG. Quite an impressive comeback. Anyway, the Habs have the split and will hold at home InshAllah.

The Kings steal game 1 in the Battle for Southern Cal. Playing with 5 defensemen throughout most of the game, their never-say-die attitude prevails in OT. When Gaborik is on, boy is he ever on! First he sends the game into OT with 7 seconds left, and then wins it in extra time. What a game from Kopitar, Martinez, Richards and my favorite Kings Doughty and Quick!

I doubt Chicago will have trouble beating Minny tonight. They ended the game on a very high note with all of their top forwards just decimating Minny, and I expect them to continue and take the 2-0 lead in the series. Don't think Minny has what it takes to win in Chicago. M. Koivu, Parise, Suter and young Brodin are very good players but you need more to beat Chicago in their building in a 60 minute game. Crawford, always an underrated winner much like Osgood, will make clutch saves to frustrate Minny.
The Pens have simply got to win this one and then win one at Fort MSG to move past an inspired and highly disciplined Rangers side. Won't be easy without Crosby doing what he did day-in and day-out during the regular season. MAF also needs to be at the top of his game and outbattle Lundqvist. Defensive zone turnovers from easily rattled guys like Scuderi are highly problematic and need to be rectified with improvised match-ups. Tough but can be done. This promises to be a great contest.

Habs lose a tough one. You are spot on about MT though. We won with his system and went to back to back finals. Those Pens teams played playoff hockey. Disco just came in and loosed the reign a bit, but it was MT system. That summer after winning, he put in his new garbage system, and we haven't won jack since then.
I have no idea whats wrong with 87. Speculation is he got injured in Game 1 against BJ's. He was seen limping. But, if he is playing, that means he is expected to play well. But, he is a shadow. I rarely saw him lose board battles. Now, he is easily beat. Maybe, they should sit him ( which won't happen ) a few games and play more simple playoff game. But, we no longer have the heavy personnel to play that way. Roster is littered with fastish small players. Anyway, I see us losing to Rangers this series. Lucky to beat BJ's, but Rangers are a playoff squad. After we lose, a new philosophy is needed. Half the roster have to be gutted. Disco will have to go.
LA is LA. Built for playoffs. Hawks should win it in five.

2-1 Blackhawks with 5 left in the game. Good effort from Minny but not good enough to prevent Chicago from taking a commanding 2-0 lead in the series. Solid defense played by both sides.

Hossa and Bickell combine to make it 3-1 Chicago. Toews clearly tripped Suter on that play but Hossa was flying past Parise anyway. Now Saad scores the ENG to make it 4-1. Yet another primary assist for Hossa. Ancient history but I still cannot believe how Kenny let this guy go!

PIT-NYR 0-0 after 1. Very cautious, almost boring approach from both teams. Each team seems more focused on not getting scored on than creating good chances. That said, there have been a few sublime moments.
Malkin created a couple of nice chances for his teammate who couldn't do his set-ups justice. I'd be pissed if I were Malkin.
Zuke's wily steal off of a flowing Malkin's stick was a thing of Datsukian beauty. Malkin didn't see that coming at all.
Last but nor least, Crosby's perfectly balanced combination of lightening quick stick-handling at high speed, subtle shifts in skating gear all within a couple of seconds, and then a filthy backhand was Datsyuk and Zetterberg combined. The move was made on McDonagh, a great defenseman in the making, and not some putz like Quincey or Kindl. That said, the Pens are in desperate need of forwards who can steal the puck, cause turnovers, and stay heavy on the puck like Pav and Z. They need a Sutter with better hands and defensive vision. We both need someone who can crash the net hard and cause good second shot opportunities.
Smart penalty on MSL by Bortuzzo. He knew Nash would predictably retaliate and cause a 4-on-4 situation theoretically advantageous to the Pens. Risky but makes you look really good once you pull it off. The Pens are masters at this. Though significantly dirtier, Ulf Samuelsson and Kasparitis come to mind right away. Can't teach hockey smarts like that.

Letang scores off of Girardi's stick. Never touched Kunitz's stick. 1-0 PIT.
