Default Dr.Wazed Mia is dead

A really sad news guys...

Dr.Wazed Mia, husband of PM Sheikh Hasina and a very respected Nuclear Scientist of our country, has died at approx 4.25pm today.

Inna Lillahi wa inna ilaihi raziun.

Condolence to his family. May Allah give them the strength to bear this loss.
May Allah forgive all his sins and grants him the Heaven.
May Allah bless us all.

The news is just breaking on the tv channels now.

Mods: feel free to move it to breaking news channel, but i decided to post a new thread since everybody does not necessarily checks out that thread all the time.

He did like to keep a low profile. There was this one time I saw him walking home - all by himself - and by home I mean like a shabby town house in Banani, nothing out of the ordinary. That's where he was living at the time.

Inna Lillahi Wa Inna Ilaihi Rajiun.Tragic news. A very nice person indeed. A brilliant scientist who would have gone very far if he hadn't been shouldered with all the responsibilities he married into. I would like to share this interesting article by Dr. Ajoy Roy, one of the most respected professor of Dhaka University who taught Dr. Miah himself:

Khaleda Zia drives to Sudha Sadan to console PM
I salute Mrs. Zia from the bottom of my heart for taking this unprecedented move. Earlier she postponed the nationwide strikes due to Dr. Wazed's deaths. My respect for Khaleda Zia has hit new highs. I really applaud her!!

What I admired the most about Dr. Wazed was his ability to keep himself out of politics, spotlight and controversy. To me, that is one hell of a big achievement. Considering the family he got himself into, the elder son-in-law of Bongobondhu Sheikh Mujib ( Boro Jamai amader culture e ki jinis eita nischoy ar kau ke bujate hobe na), husband of Sheik Hasina, it was by no means something to speak about.

He was always respected as one of the pionner Nuclear Scientist of our country and has managed to keep that identity of himself intact, with integrity.

Specially in a time when the country is in talks about setting up our own Nuclear Power Plant, his loss is an immense one for the country. His knowledge and expetise in this sector would have been a great asset for us.

It was indeed a very nice, but appropriate gesture by Begum Zia. She of all people knows the pain of losing husband.

Nice to see that we can rise beyond conflicts in a time when we should.

Btw, i was just wondering, this has to be one of those rare events of history, and i mean Dr.Wazed's death.

I cant remember when was the last time, anywhere in the world, the partner (husband/wife) of a current Head of State died of natural cause ?

We all belongs to Allah and to HIM we return
I am fortunate enough to meet this man in 1999 in the Conferrence of Bangladesh Society for Advancement of Science. He was a very humble man. The impression what I got is that he is mad scientist. He was throwing vitriol in public place against Mrs Wazed and some other top Awami leaders actually astonished me. When one of country's pro Awami Professor was leaving because he could not stand by those he uttered Are you going to report this to your Apa? Don't bother - it is already reported and pointed ther security personnal employed there .
One of my uncle was his colleague in Atomic Energy. From him I heard that Dr. Wazed used to say AL died with Bongobondhu and my uncle thought Dr Wazed felt more comfortable working with Mrs Zia than Mrs Wazed during his time as cheif of Atomic energy which covered part of bothes tenure

I also heard the same. The relationship between Mr. and Mrs. Wajed was never good, especially after Mrs. Wajed entered politics.

It was a really nice gesture from her. Shows that our leaders are finally maturing. If this was 15 years back than we may have had a new birthday date for some person.

Neways really nice gesture from KZ and deserves a lot of praise.
