We have always been playing against the 11 opposition players plus the umpires.
Credits to the boys that we have come this far.

Yup, we lost 12 years of Test cricket because of crappy umpiring. Yup, that doesn't sound sorry at all. That defo makes us look good.

Nothing we didn't know already. But a very good, long essential article nonetheless.

Aminul Islam's 145 still vivid. 91 all out in the second innings is vivid too. It has been the story of our team: We do well in a session or two and then lose the momentum easily.

So we get a 10 year anniversary bashing, then a 12. And I'm guessing we will get another one after 15? What! Way to cut the break short Isam!

From the peaks to the pits
Multan 2003, all out for 62, and other peaks and valleys in Bangladesh's 12 years in Test cricket
Mohammad Isam
November 10, 2012
Teams: Bangladesh

THE HIGHS

The first, the longest Aminul Islam's 145 in Bangladesh's first Test lasted 535 minutes, still the longest innings by a Bangladesh batsman in Test cricket, and took 380 balls. In terms of highest score in a country's debut Test, he is second only to Charles Bannerman's 165 not out for Australia.

12 years is not a small period. A 7 year old kid back in 2000 may be dominating test players' nightmares now.
And we have to stop blaming others for our faults. We can blame the umpires, the conditions, the ballboys, but in the end it is our fault that we have not achieved 1/12th of what was expected. We have some fundamental flaws in our system and we have to point them out and sort them out before Ireland, Scotland make fools out of us.
Here are few issues I think BCB should consider.
1. Pace bowlers: You do not play test matches with two sub par pacers. Truth is, we have not produced a single pace bowler of test quality. Mortaza, who is without a doubt the best pacer we have, has a test average of 41.48. Do that in an Australian, South African team, and you would never get a second look. We need to groom pacers from grass root level. Pick a group of 50 boys from around the nation, put them in a pace academy and reap the rewards in 7-8 years. Make an academy where you eat to become a pacer, you train to become a pacer, you dream of crushing oppositions helmets.
In the meantime, while we sharpen our pace brigade, we need to look overseas for opportunities. I am certain there are few Bangladeshi origin pacers in England/Australia/South Africa who are worth a go. We need pacers, and the Abuls, the Rubels are simply not doing the job.

2. Instil the winning mentality: Technically, none of our batsmen are far behind other international teams, yet they struggle to make the transition. I believe we need to provide each FC team with a sports psychologist, make the players believe in themselves. Make sure the winning mentality is within the players from a very early age. Scoring a 50 where your team loses, is simply not good enough. Win, at whatever cost.

Nice post.

There is definitely good Bangali pacers in England, Australia, South Africa. But i dont think BCB will track the talent down in other countries. But it would definitely pay dividends if they do.

And batting wise we arent patient enough in test cricket. Temperament isnt there.

for Bangladesh team they make us proud . If they get support from icc and other test playing country they will be in a good position in near future . But unfortunately icc make all rules against Bangladesh

main problem is the domestic infrastructure and culture in BD cricket is horrible and clearly and never has produced test quality players on any sort of consistent basis, only ones to blame with that are the people in control of BD cricket. however the lack of test matches is also a big problem, both go hand in hand.
