Default Massive Overhaul

Ok...Seems the second test is a done deal for the kiwis/ its a great uphill battle for BD (whichever way you prefer to look at it). lets start looking at the future...how we can turn things around. Coz at the moment it doesn't look like anything is working...no matter how much optimistic dav sounds! I have several proposals for the BCB and our advisory committee.

(1) Get rid of the 20/20 competition (to be started) in BD: IT IS COUNTER-PRODUCTIVE. We need to promote longer version of the game (3 days/4 days) if we want to compete with the best. Dont be swayed by money, think about crcket in BD. The need for longer versions of the game, our players to build patience to bat for a long time.....these things cant be stressed enough regarding their importance. ODI is fine, but unless a player has maturity, he is going nowhere. Anyone can flash at a ball....but its the intelligent batting for long periods and bowling that wins the game.

(2) Make a number of A and B teams..such as BCB XI, BKSP X1, BCB A, BCB B etc. Put all national pool players in these teams together with new and upcoming players. The national players need to get of their asses, get rid of their egos and play in these teams. SEND these teams overseas to play against English county and ranji trophy teams. Doesnt matter if the team has 7/8 national players....just send these teams to play against top state teams. Unless they acclamatize themselves to different situations and get experience, they will be the whipping boys forever.

(3) Someone get our batting right. Need to look at the basic shot selection and how to play at each ball on its merit. These things should be taught at the very childhood...but since we dont have such an infrastructure yet, lets work with what we have. Even if it means our superstars have to spend 7/8 hours in the nets everyday practising correct and modified stroke making. As has almost unversally been agreed here in banglacricket, our batsmen dont have any technique whatsoever. So someone should help the batsmen get their technique right. That someone needs to be employed for a long, long time basis...not for short batting workshops or on a one year contract. Our batsmen need to learn basic shot selection and batting..IMHO there is no other alternative.

(4) Get an indoor facility with roof so that rain or shine, our players can practice before a match (dont just rely on BKSP).

(5) Invest into pitch. get some foreign curator and change every single pitch in BD. Make chittagang pitch spin friendly while make the Mirpur stadium fast and bouncy. We can no longer afford to play on dead pitches where the ball only comes as high as your hip on average. Unless we prepare fast and bouncy pitches, our players will always be suspect against fast bowling (as we are at the moment). With all the money invested in BD cricket, how difficult is it to prepare a truely world class fast pitch in BD? Is it lack of interest or just pure indifference?

(6) Start giving lessons about captaincy to Bashar...if he is the preferred long term captain. He needs to sharpen his understanding of the game and be wily. At the moment he is just flowing with the motion. Pilot on the other hand is a better captain than Bashar, yet I feel that Bashar is the ultimate choice. So someone needs to groom him. Either make him read books or give him 1/2 hour lessons about field placement...just do something.

Its time we looked at these issues. Unless we arrange our own backyard, we cant expect the visitors to give us any respect...which at the moment is like a pill hard to swallow for us. We would be thrashed over and over again if we dont take actions NOW!

yea we really need to improve. domestic cricket should be all yr long.
1) we can play corporate league which should be oneday in the month of november. we can allow 2 foreign player. 12 team in two groups and the champion and runner up of each team goes to semi final.
2) in the month of november we can play dhaka premier league. 10 team top 5 playing in super league and bottom 5 plays in relegation league. 3 foreign players should be allowed to play there. this should also b 50 overs.
3) from january we should play our first class national league. six divisional teams play eachother home and away. 4 days and oneday mathc. no foreign players need. so each team will play 10 first class mathc. that should last 3 month.
5) in august we can try 20 overs corporate league. no foreign players needed. i think 20 over matches will help us get pinch hitters.

we also should have an a-team and u-19 team ready all the time.
this is the only way we will find quality players.

I think that Rafique, a bowler, showed the way for our batsman. Just go out there and try to be as positive and aggressive as possible, no matter what the situation is.

And fortune favors the brave.

The outcome of last two tests shows we need to do something with our team:

(i) request ICC to stop playing tests for 1/2 years OR
(ii) include people in BCB who at least know some basic about cricket, get rid of the politicans from the BCB and bring back cricket officials (not football officials)
(iii) no more test debut before playing 20 A matches and 20 ODIs
(iv) Dav or Faruk is not a factor to the performance ... Rahim and Karim (with little knowledge of BD cricket) would do the same
(v) no more coaches for current test team players, these heads are full of info no more place to get something in ... bring coaches only for age level teams
(vi) bring proper cricket officials at BCB (oops repeat.. actuall most important)
