Latif faces legal threat

The Pakistan Cricket Board has confirmed it is considering legal action against former captain Rashid Latif over match-fixing claims.

Latif claimed that the fourth one-day international between India and Pakistan had been fixed.

Both Pakistan captain Inzamam-ul-Haq and India vice-captain Rahul Dravid reacted angrily to the suggestions.

But the PCB have confirmed they are speaking to their legal representatives over Latif's remarks.

Chairman Shaharyar Khan said: "Rashid Latif's allegation was unpatriotic and shameful and we are currently taking advice from our lawyers."

The International Cricket Council do not comment on the activities of their anti-corruption unit but Latif confirmed that he had met two officials in Karachi on Monday.

Regardless of the fickle nature of Rashid Latif, the 4th ODI result was a boon to all the parties that stand to make a lot of money from the series. All the betting happens in London, so it is very possible. Pak had India cornered, then let them slip away. Now the decider will surely be the highest rated cricket contest in years. Pak cricket is and has been heavily corrupted. India had nothing to lose in the arrangement and everything to gain. I think the 4th match already looks suspicious. Just wish I had put my five dollars in for that one.
