Default List of Rajakars

We all know about GoA, Nijami, Sayeede and now infamous Kader Molla.
They should all be brought under justice and be punished for their crime.

But what about the others ??
A Rajakar is a rajakar irrespective of his/her political affiliation.

What about those who conveniently mixed amongst the power broker BAL and BNP and have now become saints ?
Saddest part, how come Sheikh Hasina could marry her daughter off to the son/grand son of a noted Rajakar ? All for money and power ? I never though much of Sheikh Selim, the guy is a crook of highest kind, but coming from the family lineage of Sheikh Mujib, how can he marry his son to the daughter of a noted smuggler and Rajakar Musa Bin Shomser ?
Not surprising though.

Here is a list of what I found on FB regarding Rajakars in BAL.
Please let us make/share list of rajakars in BNP.

Trying to hang GoA while sending her own daughter to a Rajakar's son's bed isn't going to help Hasina or BAL or BNP or anyone. This is the reason why Jamaat could persue countries like Turkey and convince them this whole Tribunal to be farcical one.

This kind of list sort of scares me. On one hand, I am all for punishing rajakars, regardless of how low they were on the chain of command and how long has passed since then.

But on the other hand, what if some of the names there are not authentic and someone just wanted to take revenge on someone and pushed in his name?

It is more important to make sure innocents do not get victimized first, I think.

(I did not look into the sites yet, may be they are already doing that).

In the US there is what is called a statute of limitations which would prevent exactly something like this. I have many reservations and little faith in the US justice system, I have almost none in a corrupt, third world country like Bangladesh's or Pakistan's.

Woops, clarification: the statute only applies to rape, and not to murder.

Rabz bhai, there are several methodological problems that arise when one tries to compile such a list. The first major one, is the question of: "who is a Rajakar"? This might lead to the immediate response - "anyone who was against the liberation of the Bangalee people". That raises a second ancillary question, "what does it mean to be for/against the liberation/creation of Bangladesh?"

Is the line drawn at those who perpetuated murder, rape and genocide against the Bangalee people, in a wholesale effort to destroy our identity or is it drawn much wider to include anyone who didn't directly participate in the War effort? I think most would agree that it's somewhere in between. But where? What would be, for instance, the status of businessmen, teachers, civil servants, etc. who didn't participate in the war effort - but didn't kill or rape anyone either? Should they be termed rajakars too, for helping preserve the Pakistani status quo?

And even if this question is addressed, and say, someone is found to be a rajakar - is his entire family and their unborn progeny damned as 'rajakar poribar' forever too?

It's a thorny issue, but merits serious consideration.

Plz someone provide valid paper cutting from that era to post such kind of fake list. Some of them are ordinary local party member of Kotaliparar awami league. So dont know about them. So cant tell those are real or not. But looking at some of the people in that list is absolutely funny. Definitely need valid paper documents from leading newspaper to tell them rajakar, specially Sajeda and Farukh Khan. Plz dont use "Amar Desh" newspaper or other rajakari newspapers as a reference or some unknow writers book's references. In boi mela there are couple of stall always mostly about Ziaur Rahman. But any of those books there ever written what Zia did after 75 to support those jamati rajakars. Those writers always hide the real history of 75-80's. Those writers always write some imaginary things to make BNP and Jamat high command happy. There are wirters also from awami block there to tell how great was awami league with false evidence. Dont believe those sort of political cheap books or dalal newspapers. So plz come up with strong evidence to tell people like Sajeda a rajakar.

The answer Navo is yes. If we do not draw the line, then every Bangladeshi who was in the pay of the government can also be tarred with the rajakar brush. The deputy librarian in the Sirajganj GOVERNMENT College. The poor fireman in the Patuakhali fire brigade. We are too easy to paint someone a rajakar. Too easy to hide behind an anonymous blog. Too easy to publish a list in a newspaper. Too easy to libel someone.

As for your second question - Navo, that is our shame. We cast the sins of the father on their children.

Sad, really.

^There's no statute of limitation on war crimes anywhere, Asaad. Politically supporting the idea of Pakistan rather than Bangladesh isn't a war crime but being involved in genocide, rape, torture, brigandage, sectarian and ethnic cleansing or looting during wartime is. Razakars were formed as an auxiliary, paramilitary force by the Pakistani government to help them design and carry out the aforesaid war crimes in the name of "Islam" and "National Unity" against "Indian and Anti-Islamic" conspiracy. A similar auxiliary force was created amongst the Bihari community and they were referred to as Mujahids. "Peace Committees" were formed by the government for PR and propaganda purposes, and many Peace Committee leaders were also active with Razakars (formed entirely from Jamaat, Muslim League and Nizam-e-Islami) and Mujahids. Jamaatis formed Al-Badr Razakars and the Muslim Leaguers and Nizamis formed Al-Shams Razakars. These trials are trying Razakars within Jamaat and BNP for now, but in light of Shahbagh, will eventually include BJP and AL Razakars also InshAllah.

The most notorious example of AL's selective treatment of Razakars was Abdur Rahim, the organizational coordinator of Razakars. He served as the Secretary to the President in Bangladesh in 1973 under Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

Interesting thread from Rabiul who seems to have strong opinions on what's going on, especially when pursuing an anti-AL agenda with his passionate sermons and righteous indignation, without actually following what's going on in Shahbagh. If he did, he'd have known who Pial is. Yet he questioned Pial's credibility. So I guess this HAD to be a separate thread. Sighting the source would've been nice.

Interesting that this list of Peace Committee members doesn't include Maulana Hashmatullah Faridpuri AKA Atrashi Pir, the spiritual guide not only to top Razakar architects, commanders and coordinators, but also the OP's "favorite player", the Father of BD Cricket, a great patriot who murdered my own father among others. I suppose HM Ershad, a man hanging out and playing squash in Pakistan during the entire duration of the War of Independence, is a great authority on the Spirit of 1971. By the same logic, he must also be the greatest authority on political transparency, anti-corruption, democracy and human rights in Bangladesh, making his BJP the real alternative to AL and BNP.

I corrected it, there isn't a statute on murder either. However, and I'm not familiar with the issue, but how do we know that the accused are really guilty? I might be wrong here, but many countries lack the concept of a grand jury, and even with one present in the US, we see how unjust the "justice" system is in actuality. Bangladesh's can only be worse than that of the US...far worse. Can witness testimony 40 years after the fact be trustworthy when even eye-witness accounts moments after are highly shoddy? Unfortunately, we don't have smoking guns like DNA evidence and forensics. As Rubu mentioned, how can any jury, if one even exists, be certain that names haven't been stuck on the list in some deshi version of McCarthyism. We know that such things are especially prevalent in countries like Bangladesh.

As someone born and raised entirely in the West, I am deeply skeptical of all governments in Bangladesh, none more so than the present one. One has only to look at the incompetent bureaucracy of the BCB to get the gist of our cultural approach to governance and management. Thus there is and was never any hope of this becoming a wider struggle for reform in Bangladesh...it was always going to be politicized. In that, there is no real fault on Bangladesh because even in the US, the supposed bastion of liberalism, human rights, and other good things, all issues are politicized as "red" or "blue". So a considerably less democratic country (in theory) doesn't stand much of a chance.

These criminals should have been taken to the Hague for two reasons. First and foremost it would ensure a fair trial. Secondly, it would prevent the issue and all its subsequents (Shahbag) from being politicized and/or co-opted by BAL or whoever would have done it.

I firmly believe that people get the leadership and governance that they deserve. The Quran asserts that God will not change a nation's fortunes until the people rectify and purify their hearts. If Americans really and truly believe in the so-called 2nd amendment, then they deserve to have mass shootings every other month. I don't believe that meaningful reform in Bangladesh can occur because the very fabric of our culture is rotten. It isn't just Khaleda or Hasina, or BNP or BAL, but each and every citizen voted for either or both or some third party. An individual may not have the means to grab a gun and take back the country that so many died for some 40 odd years ago, and indeed it would be futile for an individual, but the individual can divorce himself from a corrupt system where you're bound to lose either way. The casino may be rigged, and thus you're best bet is not to go inside. And if you are inside and can't get out, then don't play. Once you've sat down at the table and agreed to the buy in, its over.

Real change won't happen until and unless enough people come together and say enough is enough. That doesn't require that everyone should agree on all points, but it does require enough agreement to realize that we need to move forward from the status quo. But I don't see much prospect for a bloodless revolution in BD, if we are to have one at all. The powers that be will not give up without a fight, and it will test the will of the people if we are to wage and win our second liberation war.

PS: Maybe because I'm an "outsider" but I actually agree with Lara's last post, whatever was left after the mod edit, that is. I find quite a but more useful to hang current criminals and then get to the one's from yesteryear.

Really interesting post from Sohel bhai who seems to have a very strong pro BAL agenda with his passionate self righteousness and is quick to judge and express his opinions about others, without really not knowing anything about that person.Just his wild guess and blank shoot, accompanied by big words.

What lead you think that I'm not following events in Shahbag closely ?? Did you derive that from my 3 liner post where I've replied to Naimul that I've been very busy lately and haven't been watching much tv ? Do you need your eyes to be glued to TV to be updated these days ?? Is this what ? Stone Age ?

May be it is because I have asked the credibility of Pial. Who is Pial and why do I need to trust his words ? People are not at Shahbag because Pial asked them to, people are there because they believe in a cause and express their solidarity over a matter that has torturing a nation ever since the end of war. Just because a blogger rose to some degree of prominence over a matter of few days, does not give him any more credibility than the thousand of unknown folks who are gathering at Shahbag everyday.
Hec, if that was the case, then with my 20,000 post here in BC, I should be applying for the post of BCB President. Surely I know a lot about cricket and who dares question me ?

Your post is a good example of a staunch pro-BAL smear campaigner whose agenda is to target, hunt and kill any post that has the slightest remark of anything that might go against the establishment of BAL. The fact that I even dare to mention BAL might have Rajakar elements within themselves, you are quick to point your finger at me and call label me with anti BAL agenda. Of course being a seasoned campaigner, you do that by first neutralizing your position with 2-3 lines of critical remark of BAL, and then followed by 2 big paragraphs of attacking the post.

Unfortunately, this has been our politics. Divide and rule. Either you are with us, or against us. There is no neutral ground. If I say something against BAL, I must have an antiBAL agenda. Soon I'd be labelled as Jamaat sympathizer and a traitor. Soon I will be labelled as someone who does not want this movement to be successful. For me to uphold the values of 71, I gotta be a pro BAL and dare not say anything against them.
But then again, if I'm a pro BAL, I'm an Indian Agent. So where I go ?

It is this sort of smear campaign that will force you to chose a side and not be at the neutral ground who dare to seek truth. My post was meant to share some information that I've found and seek truth. Some names were surprising while some were very disappointing, given their current relationship with the power brokers.
If you have read my post, you would have seen I've mentioned a rajakar is a rajakar, irrespective of his/her party affiliation. I wasn't witch hunting BAL thugs.

While your passion for what you believe in is really appreciable Sohel bhai, your method of demeaning others who dare to differ with you isn't. Let's not call names, point fingers and shove down ideologies down the throat. Let people seek truth through sharing knowledge and let their conscious be the guidance.

I doubt many [] have harmed the country anywhere near as much as these two scum Hasina and Khaleda. They should be the first ones to be hanged, then you can hang the []. Exiting this thread asap before the BNP and AL cronies jump on me to defend their beloved apas

These are actually very emotional times for the whole nation ATM. Yes.. we all seem to agree on one thing, and that is paying the War criminals and the Rajakars all their dues. But perhaps.. just perhaps.. the thin line of difference of individual opinions are creating very high level of emotional outbursts sometimes... even among brothers and sisters who share the very common demand regarding these thugs!

Truth is.. none of us are flawless... and we all do sometimes step over the borderline. But that is exactly why volatile movements like these can be very dangerous too.

It is our 'very thin line of differences' that the culprits will always look to exploit and that is where they will keep trying to set the fire...

Keep calm brothers.. because that is THE ONLY way we can get through this yet unstable vulnerability...

Let us not diminish the great spirit at Shahbagh by turning this into a partisan issue, because that is precisely what Shahbagh is not. It is not a platform for AL, BNP, JP and certainly not Jamaat.

Shahbagh is about reclaiming the spirit and ideals of our War of Liberation. Shahbagh is about recapturing it from those who have co-opted this spirit to advance partisan interests (be it AL or BNP).

Shahbagh is about the new generation (many of us, who weren't around in 1971) to express their pride in being Bangalee and Bangladeshi...and reject anti-Bangladesh entities(Jamaatis, Rajakars, Chagus) and their bankrupt ideals.

I, for one, am happy that my generation has not forgotten the struggles of our forefathers, who gave us a free Bangladesh. And I am happy that my generation wants to uphold the spirit of their struggle.

I am also happy that we have taken the Liberation War slogan of "JOI BANGLA" back from AL. This slogan belongs to the nation, not to any single party. And it is more powerful and evocative than any number of "Bangladesh zindabads".

And yes, I am happy that we are demanding a clean slate by demanding the highest possible punishment for Rajakar war criminals. We will hound them and let them know that even after 40+ years, this generation is not willing to let them off the hook simply because so much time has passed.

Amader shongram...cholbei, cholbe!
Tumi ke? Ami Ke? Bangalee! Bangalee!
Tomar amar theekana! Padma, Meghna, Jamuna!
Joi Bangla!

This is a sensitive topic, we're all on the same side here...perhaps if we get a bit hot we should cool off for a few and then hit the "quote" button.

this post reminds me exactly why Shahbagh is right and I have been wrong.

I never support capital punishment and I always thought rule of law should be our priority. However, our demand for justice always gets derailed by this kind of misinformation. I have lost all hope for a just and fair trial as long as these BNPJamat types are around. So Shahbagh is right. No more chances should be given to BNPJamat - fair or unfair. This is not about fair or unfair anymore. This is war.

I know this comment is not meant to be that serious, but it typifies a wider confusion over who actually is the enemy. It is a war all right, but against whom?

The initial belief was that it was against Rajakars who had blood on their hands during 1971, then it is whole of Jamaat Islami, then it is apparently anthing associated with JI including Islami Bank, then it suddenly becomes "BNP Jamaat types", wonder what this will evolve to next ?

I wouldn't get worried too much about the people who are terribly misinformed. The post you quoted says he has lost all hope on the Trial because of the BNP Jamat types conveniently forgetting that AL government is in power right now. So it is best to just smile and ignore.
