All About PS3!
I haven't played video games in ages. The last time i owned a console was the Sega Megadrive (or genesis) and that was when I was in school. The last decade or so was totally spent on either getting academic degrees or working, mostly both at the same time. I recently had my 30th birthday and was going through a pre-mid life crisis. Since I couldn't buy a porsche, I bought the next best thing, a ps3.
And it's simply awesome!I got the ps3 slim and am practically running home from just to play games. It's simply superb both in terms of graphics and gameplay. I just bought 5 new games and Im totally hooked on the new Fifa and this amazing game called Fallout 3.
Anyways, I'd like to share experiences with people here about ps3 in general and the games they're paying now.
And who said video games are for kids only? Well i guess i never really grew up but thats' another story..

samircreep,
as a passionate gamer and Playstation fan, I welcome you to the dark side.
Fallout 3 is indeed a great game and I've been hearing great things about this year's FIFA. However, you'll find that there are many others great games on this beautiful machine that you have to experience.
I highly recommend you start by picking up a copy of Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, which is one of the best action-adventure games of this generation and play through it as soon as possible because the sequel for it, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves is out in the US today, which is currently THE second-most critically-acclaimed game of this generation. Suffice to say, there's nothing like it on any other platform, so be very glad you chose PS3.

Playing with gf3 is better than playing with ps3 unless you are HB.

Well. It doesn't really matter because Xbox 360 beats all.

I think we should avoid fan boy comments. PS3 is the perfect console for me, I'm not saying its the best for everyone, but for me at least its perfect.

Hey how is fifa 10 ? I heard its awesome, if it is, then I think I'm buying it. The demos seem nice, but I want the opinion of someone who owns the full version. I wanna get uncharted 2 too, heard its sick.

samir, for now I'll say as soon as you've beaten them trade-in both Wolverine and Prototype for Batman: Arkham Asylum and inFamous. I will post more suggestions later after I get back from work.
If you like Fallout 3 a lot, you might wanna pick up a copy of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, which is from the same developer. It's a tad old but one of the best action RPGs there is. For any other genres you like, such as shooters, racing, platforming, etc, just ask me and I'll give you more recommendations.

Well they must be saving up to buy one for themselves, now that you have shown them the beauty of the PSTriple!
Bad timing on your part, so close to the holiday season, with the recession and everything.

I'm also amazed by the console iteself. I bought the ps3 slim and it's just a work of art really. I got rid of my old dvd player, and i have a sony bravia so i play all my games in hdmi. It's magnificent!
Hatebreed: Just in general, PS3 has been around for around 3 years right? but there doesn't seem to be a whole bunch of games for it. I mean just doing a general search on amazon, and i can find around 50-60 games. Doesn't seem a lot for 4 years does it?
Also, a thing about playing. PS3 games are region free right? I mean if i buy a game in north america, that means i can still play them on my ps3 in BD right? At least thats what the net says. I know blue rays dvds arent but games should work fine?

PS3 is 3 years old next month.
As for the # of games, try 500+
Here's a complete list of PS3 games- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of...tation_3_games
In the end it's not the quantity that matters but quality. There are already many great games on the system for you to play, with some of the biggest PS3 exclusives still not out yet. So don't worry about not having enough games to play. Just ask me what kind of games you're looking for.
Yes PS3 games are region-free, which means you can import games like Ashes Cricket to play on your US PS3. It should work fine as long as your TV in Bangladesh supports it.

Much better than the previous ones:
1. Almost no noise
2. Better resolution
3. Better price etc....
and just because his cousin has one, my son Sreejon wants one too now...

Just got my copy of Uncharted 2 delivered to my doorstep. I'm just gonna stare at the thing for a little longer and try to keep calm.

I know already. I'm happy with my PS3 phat for now but if I eventually replace it with a slimmer model I'll go for the 250GB unit

Thanks. I just bought a PS3 slim. You are right on those points. I already had the 80 GB PS3. I am going to take one to Bangladesh. Trying to decide which one to keep for myself. Only good thing about the old one is that it's body is more attractive.
Any idea if I will need power converter for it to work in Bangladesh?

I am more of a strategy game fan and all the games are for PC only...
however I think I am finally giving in looking at the Fifa 2010 demo (or PES 2010, the debate is still on). I am thinking of getting a PS3 finally.
For a novice console gamer, would you recommend getting the 120gb (the one in store now) or worth the extra $50 bucks for the 250gb one coming out in november? Thanks in advance for your inout....

If I'm correct the US uses flat two-pin plugs. So you might need a converter for the round two-pin plugs used in Bangladesh. You should also use an IPS because of the amount of loadshedding in BD.

You can play strategy games like Civilization Revolution, Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3, etc on PS3. But I really recommend you try other genres if you get a PS3 because there many great games out there.
I think the 120GB unit is more than sufficient for even regular gamers. You can always upgrade your HDD very cheaply and easily if you need to in the future.
