But we cant expect everyone to improve like shakib though. It was kind of freaky. I still remember people were sceptical at first shakib being the main spinner but then the NZ test happened and it changed his bowling career.

My God what an innings from Miraz! He came in at 98-4 and stayed their and saw his team win! Now that is what you call a captain's knock

Showed how its done just through singles, and didn't need to take unnecessary risks and shots

And that is exactly why I rate him so high compared to our current crop of players. Now, both Shakib and Soumya are quality batsman, but every time they get a life they will not try to make full toll of it hence why we have criticized the two of them. When you get a reprieve you have to tell yourself "I got a life" and I want to make full use of it and bat through the innings.
Getting a reprieve does not and should not signal "go for it again, you got a life". It means, you didn't lose your wicket and now you have to stay for a longer period of time and win this match for your country. His innings is arguably the most mature innings I have seen from any Bangladesh batsman i have seen while chasing. If you look at our record, we are poor at chasing. Our highest run chases are usually against weaker sides on flatter tracks. No offense.
On topic: coming in at no. 6 with team at 98-4 chasing a par total on a very sluggish wicket at the age of 18, he did not panic, did not play a single slog, and certainly put a lot of pressure on the fielders. And do you know one modern day cricket who does this so exceptionally well? Yes he plays for India and his name is Virat. Obviously Miraz is not half as good Kohli, but the innings he played showed a lot of maturity. We have produced a lot of talented youngsters like Soumya, Anamul , Liton, and I haven't seen them play any innings of this sort. Mushy is the only current BD batsman who can play with such maturity, but he only was able to do so after 9 years of international cricket. This guy is just 18. I will just say, hats off to Miraz. How was he always smiling and not nervous when I, a 21 year old(still younger than Nepal captain) was sitting in front of my armchair and shaking.
But hey, maybe that is the reason why I am an engineering student and he is leading BD U-19 team for the 2nd time in a world cup.

Didn't lose hope even when Shanto got out coz knew Miraz was still to come. He played some brilliant knock in last 13 months.
His decision making also paid off. Usually he bats at 5 but today he sent Zakir ahead of him and he came at 6.
He knew what he was doing. Defo a future captain material

bro, that happens and can happen to anyone but most I like about him is that he came there and played anchor role with cool head, no rush of blood unlike our seniors like of Shakib or Tamim(not comparingt with them), but saying that not only miraz also Zakir at point looked like omar Belim but my goodness these guys knows when to switch the gears and when to play what, thats't the difference between Shakib. Rahim, Tamim era of U-19 and Miraz era. That's why first time we are in semi ever at this level.
Miraz is a cool customer, as Atahar says always

He was instrumental for this win.
But beyond u19, nothing is eye catching... neither his bowling nor his batting (in this game).

Great knock. In a couple of years if he gets into the national team replacing one of the bowlers, it would mean we could bat deep. He would be quite handy contributing with the bat lower down the order.

because of Shakib's success as an AR, every upcoming AR will be compared to him regardless of style of play

I thought now we don't debut 17/18s anymore. Most players are mostly 21+ in debut since 2011/12. Barring some exception like Mustafiz(and you aren't unhappy about his addition )
Or do you want all debutants must be 25+ and found Ronys and Homs or a LOIs team like Pakistan.

We dont debut 17/18's. But we re debuting 19-20 year olds, and that also on the basis of one good season.
You can see how they rushed the likes of Anamul, Mominul, Liton and, how quickly they ve axed them from team. Now recently they have promoted Mosaddek Hossain and Rony.
A place in the NT shouldnt be so easy.

Shouldn't be easy?
We are a mediocre team and I see no harm in testing them. Shakib excelled in his early years.
And the likes of Miraz has shown great maturity. Something I am quite sure no one other than Mushfiq has when it comes to batting

Even mushfiq wasn't mature enough at first. He had bat.ave of less than 19 and strike rate less than 65 for first 40 odd matches if I am not wrong in Lois.

Yeah shown great maturity at U19 level. Let's not rush players so fast. If U19 is everything then Sami Aslam would be regular in Pakistan national team by now.
Mehedi however is more matured for his age thats for sure. But I will wait 2 years more..at least. Because sadly U19s rarely showcase real ability of a player who can play well in Internationals.

Well i think age should not be a factor when it comes to selection.
This is where tournaments like BPL and U-19 WC are quite important. Anyone can perform in the domestics but the real stars perform when under the pump and under difficult conditions.
Now, ofcourse, what happens from here onwards is all a matter of the work ethic of players. If they work hard they will get better, otherwise they will whither away. I don't mind BCB giving oppurtunity to Anamul, Liton, Mustafiz at young age. Anamul has shown good skills in LOIs, be it ODIs or T20s, Litton, Well he needs to improve his mental strength but otherwise we now have a quality keeper-bat in tests(his 50 in the test match against SA was just sublime though short) and Mustafiz- nothing more to say.
I believe players should be selected on merit. Which is exactly why I am quite vocal about MH Rubel getting drafted in our LOIs side because Arafat, Jubair and Taijul haven't been so effective.
Going back to my point. Miraz has shown great maturity. I found that he has a really good batting technique, top class fielder and can be groomed for captaincy. Miraz and Shanto are ready to play for Bangladesh and I am quite sure these 2 are more capable than Riad, Nasir, Mithun, Rony. Won't draft in the likes of Ghosh, Jaker, Saleh Ahmed, Saifuddin, Mehedi Rana anytime soon

great thing about miraz is he is more mature than his age. he is considered next shakib because of his allround ability and cool head.
shakib had nothing at the early stage but hard work brings him here. i think miraz also have similar quality and he will be an awsome captain one day

Miraz's U19 record - batting average 27+, bowling average 21+
