Now that his survival is at stake, Riyad suddenly is not bothered by his shoulder injury and went on to score a century in the practice match -

In the practice match, both Soumya and Shadman went for ducks. Rahi scalped Mushfiq, Momin, and Mosaddek so far.

Now Riyad got three wickets as well - https://bn.bdcrictime.com/%e0%a6%ae%...7%87%e0%a6%b0/

Was he faking his injury all this time?

Naeem Islam got a chance after 5 years - he has been included in the two-day practice match against AFG. Jubair Hossain also got a chance after long time, after impressing in nets again.

BCB Squad:
Nurul Hasan(captain), Anamul Haque, Fardeen Hasan, Naeem Islam, Al Amin Jr, Sabbir Hossain, Fazle Rabbi, Irfan Sukkur, Jubair Hossain, Manik Khan, Sumon Khan, Salahuddin Sakil, Mehedi Hasan Rana, Asadullah Galib

Thanks Bro

Me too, the practice match situation doesn't help improve that too. But I stil expect Tigers to win convincingly. Any close match will only energize the hate club.

AA Jr has been the most successful bowler of the day - https://www.espncricinfo.com/series/...angladesh-2019

I guess that will give Shakib further incentive to go with only two pacers.

Isn't Jr. an offie? Shakib might as well go with 1 pacer.

question is.. if its 2 seamers, then gets the nod between Taijul, Miraz and Nayeem? Nayeem had a terrific game against SL A and can contribute with the bat, Miraz is one of the highest wicket takers in this format for us since his debut and Taijul has been our most consistent performer... But No way Shakib picks 5 front line bowlers so one of them will get the axe.

With Riyad doing well in the practice match with the ball, I am thinking it will be Nayeem

Miraz and Taijul will probably get the nod, and Nayeem will miss out-although very unfortunate as the kid is a superb red ball cricketer.

Of course Tigers could also leave out one of the pacers, choose Nayeem and get Soumya to bowl as second seamer.

I guess it all depends on the type of surface they prepare.

From https://www.dhakatribune.com/sport/2...around-afghans
Quote:
It is widely reported that the Bangladesh think tank is mulling preparing a green top to minimize Afghanistan’s spin strength that Rashid Khan and Co brings in.

However, the performance from the BCB XI on day one and the Afghans’ struggles against the spinners may force the decision makers to think otherwise.

“The wicket [Sunday] had help for the spinners. Their two openers had batted well to start with; they looked comfortable against pace. I felt spin is going to be a better option for us,” said Al Amin to reporters.

“Despite the wicket, we need to realize our strength. I believe we have world-class spinners in the national team and we should rely on them. [Sunday] it looked like the turn or the spinners can put them in trouble. As I already said, we have many quality spinners in the national team and we should expect them to be used,” said Al Amin.
I disagree with AA that Ebadat-Taskin would be as futile against Afghans as Manik Khan-Mehedi Rana. I would still go with a green top, give our pacers a chance, and not risk aiding Rashid-Nabi-Qais with a rank turner.

It was prolly intentional to give Afghans a false sense of confidence against pacers by letting them play on a slow wicket against bunch of rookie pacers.

The XI I would pick is:

Soumya
Shadman
Mominul
Mushfiq
Mosaddek
Shakib
Riyad
Liton
Miraz
Jayed
Ebadat

Isam thinks Shakib will go with one pacer again in Chittagong - https://www.espncricinfo.com/story/_...-sensible-ploy

Meanwhile, Zahir Khan, the Afghan-Chinaman, took a fifer in the practice match. BCB XI survived less than session and a half against Rashid-Zahir - https://www.espncricinfo.com/series/...angladesh-2019

The practice match was a bluff... Probably a flat track is coming. The question remains, if Afghanistan are to bat first it would be total embarrassment if they post 400+...

Pathetic that we are worried about what kind of pitch to prepare because of the newbie test team.

Lose-Lose situation for us

During WC we had posts after posts and even threads discussing the uncouth behavior of big mouth AFGAN players.

And now we are wetting our pants before taking on the newest Test team in a test match.

SL series proved that our chest beating about two guaranteed points was nothing but pipe dream. Will AFGA prove in their inaugural test against us they were well within their rights to big mouth and bash us all along?

Who is wetting pants? Please identify them. They most likely have bladder problem, need to wear adult diapers.

I expect Bangladesh to dominate this test against AFG. Its a test, experience matters. If it were T20 then it would be a different story.

Theoretically can AFG have a upset victory, sure they can.... but the livelihood is minimum.

Just because AFG is a newcomer, we cannot effort to take this game lightly, but no reason to panic. We are supposed to win and we should win this game.

TEST is not a sprint, its a marathon, we just need to be patient and play accordingly.

The form both teams were in, BD would have annilated Sri Lanka at world cup.

SL almost lost to Afghanistan and lost to South Africa. BD lost to both AUS and India by small margins. We were a top 6 quality side at the world cup.

What matters is form and consistency. We are known for consistently inconsistent. This Afghan team has enough power to beat Bangladesh in this test match. Senior members of the team are the key if we are to win this match.

Afghanistan A beat Bangladesh A in a 4-day match recently.
Afghanistan just thrashed the BCB X1 the other day.

And if we are expecting Bangladesh will thrash Afghanistan in this test match, I think we are daydreaming.

We are comparing Apple with Oranges. How many of them will be playing in our national team tomorrow?

I havn't seen anybody saying that Bangladesh will trash Afghanistan. What we are saying is that "we are expected to win against Afghanistan as a better TEST team" . Now does it guarantee a win for us for sure. Ofcourse not, a game is played on the field where you still need to score runs and get wickets.... not in the message board.... that we all know.

What's the point wetting pant now when not a single ball is bowled yet?

Yes there was some negative vibe going on after the WC. but now things are changing for the team. Few examples:

- We have a new head coach, spin coach and FB coach all will start fresh
- Well rested Sakib is back in the team
- Off form Tamim is taking off
- Momin is back in the (TEST) team in local pitch.
- Its a do or die series for Riyad and his injury suddenly vanished.
- The captain is talking about:
*"not seniority, but performance should be the only criteria for player to be in the team",
"Captain should also perform", " FB should justify their position in deshi pitch to make a case why they should be included",

"we should prepare for young captains", etc

will only make the selection process more transparent and forward thinking and encourage players (young and old) to concentrate on perform only.
