I was really impressed with Abul's discipline today. He bowled well within himself on his return to international cricket after a long lay-off. Still, he got good bounce and went pass the bat on number of occasions. Perhaps, a bit unlucky not to pick up a wicket as he managed to get the batter to sky one of the deliveries but Jubair the "catcher" didn't get under the ball.

He probably was bowling around 130 - 135k today which is fast enough. And, his back of the hand slower balls with a proud seam was a sight to behold and fooled batters on number of occasions. I look forward to a match-fit Abul bowling around 140k in tandem with Mash or Rubel who was also very impressive today. Under the new regime the pacers are ticking almost all of the boxes and are visibly getting better. Mash, Rubel, Taskin, Abul and Shafi will be my picks for the pace friendly conditions down under.

Once again, Abul turned out a very impressive performance with the ball on his return. Hopefully, he will take confidence from this going into the next match. Wish him all the best,

He was lucky to be facing Zimbabwean batsmen and to be also bowling later at a time when they were playing cautious after losing wickets of Taylor, a good number of his wide and short delieveries would have been sent to orbit regularly by better batsmen, am not sold on his 'talent' yet. He got whacked around a lot by some poor teams before his injury

Unless he is converted into a Thisira Perera type player, he shouldnt be a part of this team. Rather persist with Al Amin, Shafiul in addition to Taskin. Rubel also seems slightly better with Streak's influence

His bowling was full of short and wide balls which should be put away by any batsman worth his salt. For me, his best over was his very last over where he showed his skill of bowling accurate slower balls, but since there were tail enders batting at that time, it doesn't really say much.
If I were a selector I wouldn't take him to world cup squad as it will be too risky and there are pacers who are more deserving than him, i.e. Mash, Rubel, Al Amin, Shafiul, Taskin. He is yet to get a single wicket in ODIs and he should not get a chance just because the Aussie conditions are pacer friendly, because by that logic every one of the pacers in BD domestic deserves to go to the world cup. But I am not the selector so you never know...

Needs to rectify his wicket taking problem, can't afford to take him to World Cup like this.

I'm sorry I just don't see it! Not impressive at the domestic level and piss poor at the international arena and we still keep on sticking with this guy! Why? Because he can bowl PHAST! That speed that he bowls on is not considered fast in the international arena and means nothing if you are bowling garbage which results in easy runs and no wickets.

Lol, well put Shehwar. Maybe they see him as a potential bowling all rounder which is why he came to bat at 8.

Dont think he has the intelligence to repeat his batting cameo. Shafiul is more reliable with the willow.

Abu jayed is a brighter prospect, don't need to be fast to be an exciting prospect, jayed has some weickets under his belt and has good stats and some the over excited people making it seem as if this guys bowls 150+ he merely touches 140 full fitness, big whoop.

You have talent, Yes. But time to forget my hometown loyality towards you. Needs a proper time in DPL, needs to pick up and learn how to pick wickets. If he does that, should be included for Australia world cup.

We should not write off a player just after one match.

The team selectors are not happy with the quality and the quantity of the fast bowlers for the national team. The established one are not good enough and the wannabe are still not consistent enough. So the search for few more FBs will constitute. But I like the fact that they are rotating (to keep them fresh and hungry) and they are still looking.

Players like Abul, if not selected, should take this experience ( game as well as advive from Bowling coach) and work on his weakness away from the national team. When they will be called again, hopefully they will be much better prepared.

I see nothing but positive outcome from this rotation of FBs strategy.

Agree. Sometimes we are too quick to make a judgement to a young player.

Looks like they are trying to find a FB alrounder and that why they are giving Abul and Somaya some chance. Ideally that will solve two problem for WC: a) an extra FB; b) hard hitting lower end batsman to make up RR problem usually created by our top batsman i.e. three static khamba Tamim, Anamul and Ryiad.

There is nothing wrong trying to solve existing problem. So I am 100% behind these kind experiment.

He averages 82.09 in first class cricket with the ball amd 37.82 in list A. He should be struggling to get into his domestic team let alone the Bangladesh national team, and looking at his bowling live one can see why the stats are like that, terrible and overrrated bowler. At least the very medicore Farhad Reza had some stats to back him
