Whatever one may say and think. Ashraful was the very first super batsman of BD, 2003-2007 era. Especially 2005 he scored that 100 against Australia in Cardiff, Wales. Memorable knock, I was in high school, my PE teacher met the BD players somewhere, he told me and the mood was great even the non Bengali mates I had, my crew members back then were joyous over BD winning against mighty Australia. And it was our cricket season and I remember scoring a 50 runs in one of the match, (we had 16 over match).

Correction : Bangladeshis
Times have changed and we have moved on. Liton, Shakib and Mushfiq play bettter and average better than Ash. We have more swashbuckling players now in the team compared to Ash's times when he was the only one. We could try him in the T20s as a start.

Time to well wish Ashraful since this thread won’t die down.
Ashraful is an anomaly in sports. So is mushfiqur. Because of their height.
What these two accomplished given their physical frame is astonishing.
Other than Tendulkar, success from that height is very very tough in a competitive sport.
I do wish him well and would appreciate his cricket if the world gives him another chance against all odds

maybe he wasn't an international bully but batting was way more difficult during his time.
Pitches had cracks, sometimes lava or gas would come out, cricket balls had spring inside so that it would bounce unethically, all fielders wore gloves so no chance of dropping catches, there were no DRS he was wrongfully given out 60 times( 30 times by Moni,20 times by Ian Gold & 10 times by that Srl umpire) ,stumps were bigger and thicker, Shamim used to jinx him too.

One of the most successful batsman this year with 5 centuries in the domestics. Just like this thread Ash is here to stay! There is only one thread has most postings than this thread in the entire BC archive.

My bad, I couldn't fathom your highly intellectual joke! And, oh, I also miss-judged your facial expression reading capability. Silly me!

OK, who wants to predict how Ashraful will perform?
As for me, I would never bet my money on him. I predict his performance will be below average (less than 25 runs on average per innings).

Provided Ash plays all (7x2 plus 2) = 16 matches, with 25 avg he would score 400 Runs.
That would definitely make him the HIGHEST run scorer in the league!
You guys have no idea what 25 avg really means in T20. Fazal Mamur kotha ar ki bolbo!
So here you are to make fun of Ashraful right? Lets see how does his T20 stats compares to other National Batsmen who just played against WI:
Batsmen Avg/Strike Rate
Ashraful 20/127
Tamim 23/117
Liton 22/140
Soumya 17/122
Shakib 23/123
Mushfiq 20/120
Riyad 23/122
Miraz 10/117
Ariful 14/96
Saifuddin 19/106
Any questions?
