Rhodes so far has been a very welcome change from Hathuru era. He pushes the players (for example, Shakib said he would not play the first Test if not for the insistence of Rhodes), yet does not take credit for himself but heap praise on the players.

Also, he even offers words of encouragement to discarded players, where Hathuru would often just trash them.

I think the toxic environment in the team has died down after Haturi left so this has been a good thing for Rhodes. Also the unsavoury Shabbir have been removed from the team which I don’t think no coach could fix as he is like a dog’s tail that will never bend.

Some of the senior players seem to be making much better contributions after Rhodes came in as well.

I have never seen a coach more chilled out than Rhodes. He still seems to be in vacation mode, and is keeping himself out of the dressing room completely. A very laissez faire style approach. Good so far, but wonder how he reacts when the guys are in the line of fire.

How would you rate him? Any insider? Is he a good tactician? Is he working on improving batting or bowling techniques?

So far he has been praised as a good talent spotter and a men-manager. Tactics seem to be rather dictated by our seniors and specialist coaches (such as using Kookaburra ball for the series on Joshi's advice).

So far, he seems more of a Whatmore than a Woolmer.

looks like rhodes' relationship is very different compared to Haturi's

Sudden unexpected news!

If its true its not good. he is nice .... there is a positive and there is a negative to it specially when you are coaching Bangladesh. What happens when Mashrafee retires? What happens when bangladesh struggles? What happens when there is again sign of laziness and indiscipline in the team? Is he capable to handle those? That is something to witch out.... I have no opinion at this point but will be watching more in this regard.

Now it raised the other question. Did the team significantly improved? batting yes. Bowling and fielding? Not sure. Is its the head coach or the batting coach deserve the credit?

btw I don't think Sakib need to be coached, he is self coach able. So I give no added credit to the coaches for Sakib, except for setting up the environment for him to perform.

Anyway after world cup there will be plenty of time to follow this issue.

I thought the players wanted such a coach. Shane Jurgensen was kind of similar to him.

I see improvement in Shaifuddin while Mash going downhill. I do not like selection of Miraz in ODI. But definitely Mosaddek improved both as a bowler and batsman. So more credit to Joshi and McKenjie.

Why are we getting such news in the middle of a world cup? BD journos are so unprofessional

Because next match we face our neighbors, some reporters eat sleep and reside in that blocked mode of thought process.

Couple possibilities..

1. Rhodes himself doesnt want to coach anymore
2. BCB is eyeing a high profile coach (not the 1st time they would make that mistake)
3. Maybe Streak is in the picture as a Head+ bowling coach.
4. Maybe BCB is eyeing a subcontinent coach considering the next world cup is in India

I would really want Rhodes to stay. He seems to be the guy who wouldnt get in **** with BCB or the players but can motivate our boys to keep pushing. Rhodes+ Streak combo would be what we need going forward.
