Default Kevin Pietersen dropped permanently?

Pietersen's England career is over

Quote:
England will enter a new era without one of their greatest-ever batsmen after the ECB decided not to consider Kevin Pietersen for selection for the forthcoming tour of the Caribbean and subsequent World Twenty20.

He deserved a much, much better farewell. Not to mention he still had 2-3 years of cricket left in him.

Pietersen's nine-year
international career saw
him become one of the
world's leading batsmen,
his 23 Test hundreds, just
two short of the England
record held by current
England captain Alastair
Cook, coming amidst a
Test tally of 8,181 runs in
104 matches at an
impressive average of
47.28.
During the Ashes debacle,
Pietersen was still
England's top scorer in
the series despite
managing just 294 runs
at a rate of 29.40.

Cricket has too much politics.

He will be missed, no doubt. But the management are definitely looking from a long term perspective. And let's be honest, KP has an ego and with new young players in the squad, the management could not have asked for a better time after the Ashes hammering.

But that being said, the English management owes the world a proper statement regarding the decision.

Such a talented batsman, his stats font reflect his true potential, still one of England's greats though.

Little known fact (at least for me):
"Geoff Boycott was dropped for a Test for scoring a double-century too slowly. Then, from 1974 to 1977, he made himself unavailable for selection to England. Boycott wasn't much loved by his team-mates either. A young Ian Botham ran him out once for not scoring quick runs when the team needed them."

He was one of the few exciting players remaining in the game during an era when most teams are finding their feet with young players. A great batsman across all formats like Michael Hussey. Cannot believe the English fans let this happen to one of their best players. Considering how much we screamed and cried over Ashraful, dropping of Pietersen is unthinkable by our standards
