What do you mean, best place to move as a Bangali? And I assume you mean New York City, not New York State? There are Bangalis all over the City but especially in Jackson Heights, Astoria, etc etc.

And in the city - lot's of cricket is played in Queens. Flushing Meadows Corona Park is a popular one.
Remember it's a big city. But if I remember the #7 subway will get you near. You can also take the LIRR.

^ oh yeah, Flushing Meadows! I remember quite a few Bangladeshis living there as well. Unfortunately, there was no cricket where I lived in NYC Just baseball, basketball and soccer.

You can check out Jamaica queens as well. Many bangalis live there. Jamaica also have a local cricket club called JYC. And most importantly there are many Bangladeshi restaurants.

I don't know why your family wants to move to NYC. Unless, there are great jobs/businesses lined up, NYC is tough.
Anyways, that's not my place, given our public transport system NYC is actually very small. Regardless of where you stay - there isn't a single place in nyc where you will feel alienated. Bangladeshis are all over. Also they are scattered in some parts of long island (more suburban) as well.
Majority are in Queens and Brooklyn. In terms of cricket, you have to make friends with the right people that play cricket, and it goes on from there. I can't recall but some of the park throughout nyc (one in jamaica i think) has cricket pitch.
NYC is definitely much much more fun than florida but it is an expensive city... then again opportunities are endless I suppose. All those business in J. heights looks to me like rags to riches stories.. lol...who would thought you can make so much money selling friggen fish....
basically, in summary: it's a great city that comes with a price tag but opportunities for success are endless.

I believe Roman is from Jamaica. There are plenty of cricket played over there. I play almost twice a week but I am kinda far from Jamaica. You are more than welcome to join us. Tape-tennis and Hard Ball. We play it all. PM me if you are interested.

If you have to commute to City (Manhattan), Astoria would be better place (commuting, neighborhood etc) to live then Jackson Heights or Jamaica though house rent rent will be little more .
