India's top fast bowling prospects?

They've always had trouble putting together a quality pace unit, with b.kumar and u.yadav there are signs that they might be able to put together a decent opening bowling pair. who else is there for the near and long term future?

i reckon sid kaul and sandeep sharma are top prospects, maybe mohit as well...

B.Kumar for sure is there to stay for a long time. Yadav is an exciting prospect with his pace and bounce and occasional away swingers, but he needs better control which should come with experience. Not too sure about Ishant Sharma though, he still looks erratic in spite of playing international cricket for some time now. One or two good performances in between is all that we're seeing from him now, which is a pity since he's capable of much more. On the plus side he's still young and has time to work on those areas.

In the current series there has been good performances by Unadkat and even Shami to some extent. There's a very good chance that Unadkat will make it to the main lineup after this.

To be realistic we won't be seeing a match winning pace attack anytime soon from India, if at all. The idea should be to try and stitch together a decent attack for now and keep working on the grass root levels.

Dont forget varoon arun,parvinder awana they can bowl 145 kmph in indian pitch regularly.

Bhuv. Kumar has been their best find in a while. Should stay for a long time.

India is famous for introducing pacers and dropping them. Barring Srinath and Zaheer very few have been given long uninterrupted runs.

Not too long ago another Kumar-Praveen had also cemented his place following some successful IPL's. But see even he is off the list now.

Yadav and Ishant are different stories. Both are rarities in terms of skill and attributes, and they have sth special about them. The pace at which they bowl, the bounce, swing, aggression. It will be a heck of a challenge for them to stay injury free and progress in their careers.

ishant is a bit of a lost cause imo, had so much exposure at the top level, an ok ODI bowler, not good in tests (though he started well in that format). the reason most indian pacers get left behind is because they are no good. btw heard that varun aaron is back training.

to me it's clear that bumar and yadav should be the 2 spearheads, and from there they've got to pick a few more to have around the squad and for the 3rd pacer spot.

sid kaul and sandeep sharma have been impressive in their short careers.

If i am not mistaken Glen McGrath has taken over from Dennis Lillee. India has put in a lot of work on their pace bowling development. The MRF Academy was started in 1987. So its no overnight success.

Unfortunately the only bowling coach we have for our pipeline is an unproven qualifcation less international experience less Ranadeb Bose.
