Couple of points on the above video. 1) I love how relaxed his stance is! Shows that he is just out there to have a good game of cricket. Compare and contrast with our Ash-moni dua durod porte porte mukh kalo kore thake. Yet he's all smiles with no helmet one. 2) Uses his height to full advantage, it was almost watching Gayle or Sir Viv play.

Here's Jayasuria:

Wifey's birthday and what a gift to give to her. Jaya at his absolute brutal best, all over the ground, wristy, great pull, dispatching loose deliveries....genius!

172-off 126

MONSTER. Also courtesy of some horrible Zimbabwean fielding. Strong on left, some glorious sixes off full-tosses. Delight to watch.

Nice thread Zee. Even though Gower is before my time too, I remember reading about how he exemplified lazy elegance. Your comparison with Ashraful is perhaps an apt one because by the end of his career it was clear that Gower never fully lived up to his potential....

Some really nice strokes in that video - the pulls to deep fine leg and the pick-up flicks to deep square leg.

If you grew up watching satellite TV in Bangladesh, you would have seen highlights of Gower's batting, tall, curly hair and wearing an open faced helmet. I started watching cricket in 1992 and I think he retired around that time. Probably one of the best that England has had from his generation. He's also a commentator and a decent one at that.

Waugh my God! (ok that was just weak)

Class on his own. Great control and not ura-dhura shots. I give Mark Waugh 173 at Melbourne, 2001:

Even though this isn't in the list above, I think this is one of the greatest ODI 150+ scores ever:

Michael Bevan was sheer class. I really hope we get someone like him in our team soon.

Never would've known. Thanks Navo (modworthy!)

Sad thing is Shamim was actually sober back then. A decade of Shamim...

Two Dilshan 160s

I remember watching that innings live in Dhaka! Amazing, amazing game. Even though I was happy Asia won, I was gutted that Caddick didn't ground his bat.

The two big innings in that match:

Ricky Ponting 164 (105)

Herschelle Gibbs 175 (111)

Surprised that the 150+ by our very own has been omitted thus far. One of the very few instances that TI actually batted through most of the BD innings:

The first 100 runs are not so impressive. What follows after the 100 looks more like a highlights reel of the PGA Masters.

Matthew Hayden's 181* vs. NZ in 2006/2007 in Hamilton
