Default Selection: What Is The Criterion?

What is the basic selection policy to select player for the national team? Akram and co. is probably the worst selection panel in the history of Bangladesh cricket.

A few examples should be enough.
  • Selecting Shahriar Nafees, Junaid Siddique and Nazimuddin for test series. All of them are repeated failures in the national side. None of them were in good form in domestic cricket before the series.
  • Anamul is a very good prospect for the national team who has been among runs for last couple of seasons. He has been a run machine in FC cricket for quite some time. Yet the selectors didn't give him any chance in the test series. He is a new comer to the ODI side. He is basically a no 3 batsman. The selectors are trying make him an opener. They made him play in opening position in two practice matches where he failed miserably. If you need to bring some good young prospect in the team, you need to remain very careful to handle him. These idiots aka selectors dont know it.
  • They have been ignoring our best limited overs pacer Nazmul for quite a some time. Probably they are almost successful in destroying him.
  • Enamul Haq Junior is arguably the best SLA in the country. He has been performing seasons after seasons. But he has been ignored for a long time.
  • Naeem Islam is in the ODI team for his success of test. He is clearly not a limited over player. The selectors will drop him for the test team after his failures in the ODI team.
  • These morons aka the selectors believe in one team for all the 3 formats. This indicates they don't understand cricket at all.
It's too frustrating. Why don't we have people with brains in charge?

There has to be some clear policy in making selection. Do we have any?

Our selection policy is too complex for many BC members to understand. The thought process is similar to a virus that is undergoing continuous mutation. Having observed the selection process diligently over many many years I think i have understood how it works.

Here are some of the things that the selectors bring with them when they decide:

i) a wrong version of FTP calender and FC calender
ii) A dvd of the movie Memento and a gold fish container
iii) Video footage of NCL games labelled wrongly in terms the year it was played
iv) Khashir Rezala (extra spicy)
v) List of 23 players written in pencil with extremely bad hand writing
vi) take out Biriyani from Ash's restaurant

Now based on the tools above our selectors are able to:
i) select t-20 teams for ODI and Tests and Test teams for ODI's
ii) drop players from Test based on ODI form and vice versa
iii) select ash every alternate series
iv) Judge current form of the probable 23
v) never include Nazmul

Default Selection Dilema For ODI Series

Imrul is not in the ODI squad. But he played well in the two practice matches. Now who should open with Tamim in the ODI series?

Anamul is a genuine 1 down batsman. The management made him play in opening. He failed. Now what is gonna happen to Anamul?

Jahurul is in the ODI squad. But he didn't do well in the practice matches. Will he still play?

Mominul batted well in both matches. What will happen to him?

Mashrall Ayub batted and bowled well in the practice matches. Will he come to the side?

Sunny bowled well in both practice matches. Now what will happen to him?

This is the danger of announcing early squad specially when you have chance to see the players in the practice matches.

to be a bit fair to the selectors regarding the test squad I thought the selection was ok.
But it only looks worse when the players they hv selected fail to deliver.
going with Junaid and SN thinking about their experience rather than new batsmen is understandable.
but both failed big time.
going with Nazza was a bit questionable though.
apart from that they gave Shog Gazi a chance which worked brilliantly, same goes for Naeem and Abul ( )
now they r giving chance to Momin which is right, but Naeem in Odi is a poor decision

well i really hope they give anamul an extended run, give him the freedom to be able to find his feet without too much pressure of worrying about selection for a little while.

If the selectors have other, more important obligations, they use a very scientific method for selecting the team. "Eeny, meeny, miny, moe" ...

  1. There should be separate test, ODI, and T20 teams.
  2. Anamul should have been in tests, at #3. I hope they don't destroy him by playing him at #2 in ODI.
  3. Junaid Siddique does not belong in the team.
  4. Naeem should play only in tests.
  5. Nazmul should play in tests and ODI.
  6. Enamul jnr should be given a chance.
  7. Selectors should be fired.

CI: " The most impressive part of BCB XI's bowling was the three consecutive yorkers that Reza delivered to Andre Russell in the 38th over, with the West Indies allrounder getting bowled by the last of those deliveries." - so why not Forhad?

The majority of the blame goes to BCB actually for not being able to prepare any selection guideline which has to be followed by all selection panels. I wish APA didn't stop Akram from resigning which happened in the Lota tenure. His resignation could be beneficial for both our cricket and Akram himself as he could concentrate on eating more.

Akram and his men are royally screwing up! Selected Naeem Islam for ODIs and T20 because he hit a sub 50 strike rate Test century on a patta track!

These guys need to go. Tired of this idiotic balogna!
