Talking Shakib Al Hasan for Essex County Cricket Club!!!

Apparently Shakib Al Hasan's agent confirmed he will accept a 3 month contract with Essex County Cricket Club.

Great news although they are a division 2 team. Wonder whether Shakib will accept it though after what he said about needing a rest. Will definitely catch him in action if it happens.

I will say more than 65% of Bangladeshi community live in London. (I am just guessing the figure). I will be going to see him..... InshAllah if he comes to Essex.

Well after his first year at Worcestershire he told in an interview he would have been much happier if he was playing near London as most of the people he knows are in London.

ESSEX

Overseas player: Alviro Petersen (South Africa, start of season until mid-June); James Franklin (New Zealand, for Twenty20)

Possible signings: Zimbabwe captain Brendan Taylor says he hopes to join Essex for Twenty20, but the county are yet to comment.

Other news: Australia international Peter Siddle had signed to play Twenty20 for Essex but was forced to pull out after he picked up an injury on Australia's tour of the West Indies. Essex have scrapped the Southend Festival for 2012, with matches being switched to their Chelmsford headquarters.

In county circuit you are allowed to sign maximum 4 overseas player through out the season.

Only one overseas player per match can participate in County matches (First Class).

Only one overseas player per match can participate in CB40 (One day tournament)

However in Friends Provident T-20 Two overseas players per match can participate.

Although yet to be seen is whether he's just being purchased as a back up or ...what's with this one overseas player per game?!

Is this for FC?

Shakib Al Hasan, ranked number one allrounder in both ICC’s ODI and Test rankings, is all set to play for an English county outfit this season.

Shakib’s agent confirmed on Saturday that the allrounder is in talks with the county championship division two side Essex.

Essex, relegated to division two back in 2010, is currently fourth in the points table.

Shakib has primarily been offered a three-month contract. However, the allrounder, currently playing in the Indian Premier League (IPL) for Kolkata Knight Riders, has asked for a curtailed schedule of one and a half months.

“Shakib has been playing non-stop for the last two seasons, and it is normal to feel stressed out at this point. Though he is happy with the county prospect, he has asked for a curtailed schedule,” said his agent.

The 24-old-allrounder played two seasons for Worcestershire county back in 2010, 2011 and played out a pivotal role in their promotion to the first division in 2010.
Essex-er jei obostha, I guess they need him bad!
http://www.espncricinfo.com/county-c...ch/542563.html
Essex: 54/6 in 27 Overs.
Rain havoc. One day left.

Brilliant.... I remember at one stage Essex used to one of the best. I guess Chelmsford is their home ground. I remember watching Bangladesh v New Zealand WC match there in 1999. Welcome back to UK Shakib

I was there too in 1999 WC. The same ground where Shakib may play for Essex.

I believe the entire County Championship is first-class level but there are just two divisions to it. In any case, it doesn't matter, if given the opportunity Shakib al Awesome will take Essex to the first division =p

Shakib should make himself useful and play county cricket instead of doing nothing and sitting on the sidelines for KKR.
