Default Whats Wrong with Gayle?

Gayle was back in monstrous form immediately after his reinstatement smashing 53, 63*, and 125 in his first three innings back.

Since then he's played 11 innings and compiled just 114 runs in that time.

Players like Gayle, Sehwag don't really have a secondary game to fall back on where they could simply defend and spend time at the crease to find form. That makes it tougher for them to get out of a rut as opposed to guys like Hussey, Tendulkar etc who are solid in both attack and defense

Well said. Gayle's the type of player when he really gets going, he's unstoppable, but if he's struggling then he'll really struggle. Same applied to Tamim as well. That's what you have to expect from explosive opening batsmen. Even if they're not performing, they should still be in the team because once they hit form, they can really their team's cause.
