You can't handle the truth: 1982 WC
Quote:
Group 2 saw one of the great World Cup upsets on the first day with the 2-1 victory of Algeria over reigning European Champion West Germany. This memorable game resulted in the controversial match between West Germany and Austria, their third and final match. As Algeria had already played their third match the day before, West Germany and Austria knew that a West German win by 1 or 2 goals would qualify them both, while a larger German victory would qualify Algeria over Austria, and a draw or an Austrian win would eliminate the Germans. The fourth team in the group, Chile, were eliminated regardless of the outcome. After 10 minutes of furious attack, West Germany succeeded in scoring through a goal by Horst Hrubesch. After the goal was scored, the two German-speaking teams went into an unspoken agreement and just kicked the ball around aimlessly for the rest of the match. Chants of "Fuera, fuera" ("Out, out") were screamed by the appalled Spanish crowd, while angry Algerian supporters waved banknotes at the players. This sham performance was widely deplored, even by the German and Austrian fans who had hoped for a hot rematch of the 1978 FIFA World Cup match in which Austria had beaten West Germany. One German fan was so upset by his team's display that he burned his German flag in disgust.[1] Algeria protested to FIFA, who ruled that the result be allowed to stand, but events led to FIFA introducing a revised qualification system at subsequent World Cups in which the final two games in each group were played simultaneously.
You want more? Look up 90 World Cup.

Germany's football came alive in the last World Cup thanks to Klinsmann. No more monotonous robotic motions.

bro thats old story.. do you hate pakistan cause they killed so many bengalis?? i hope you dont.. NO CURRENT GERMAN PLAYER OR COACH were anyhow part of that team at that time.. you cant really call this team cheaters cause their forefathers cheated.. i like this team, i have been supporting them since 2002 WC.. my fav. players are Kahn, Ballack, Frings, Podolski, etc. and none of them were playing at that time.. so like really.. most teams have cheated when they want to win.. DID they cheat in the 2002 or 2006 WC?? but still they played good in both..

I am very much frustrated to hear the sad news: Michael Ballack misses World Cup with ankle injury. It really hurts me. Without Ballack and Klose is out of form, I am not sure how far Germany will go in this WC.

Ballack out maybe a blessing in disguise. He was more a liability for Chelsea this season. Interestingly all the players play for German teams. The only player who played for a foreign team had to withdraw.

Star player: None
Players to watch: Jerome Boateng, Bastien Schweinsteiger, Mario Gomez

My prediction: Second round but it seems they will get relatively easy opponents there so may go to the QFs

Lets see. Maybe not the cup, but I think Semi's. This team is very inexperienced but also talented. They have the ability to do anything or maybe nothing at all. It shall be a surprise

Well well. Time to bump the thread

4-0 against Aussies. Podolski, Klose, Muller, Cacau.

But more important than that, there plays have been amazing. The runs and the through balls have been great. And the enthusiasm and energy from the young players have been fascinating. Offence can be compared to any other team, but different than all the teams we have seen playing so far. The best runs and through balls.

Defence hasnt had a great deal of work to do. So they are still untested. Serbia should test them. Ghanas offence is not good enough, other than Gyan.

So far great work. I cant wait for the remaining matches

serbia will certainly test them. they now in a must win situation agaisnt german and with players mostly playing in bundelsliga serbia will give something extra.

though ghana beat serbia ghana looked nothing closed to the team they were last time. the absence of the three midfield maestro Essien, Muntari and Appiah (in squad but not 100% fit) makes them a different team. those three were in awesome form last time

Well, frankly speaking, I wasn’t expecting Germany to qualify for the Quarter Final round because of the sports magazine and sporting sports discussions as they were quite weak at the initial stages. But it’s really good to see them among the big football giants like Spain, Brazil and Argentina. Best of luck Germans!!!

Lmao. Yeah they have a young team. But still they were always gonna beat the likes of Ghana and the crap English. Argentina would be by far the toughest match. I am expecting a good fight. I believe in the team and I think they can pull it off.

And I am not sure 4-0 win is signs of a weak team? Are you talking about the 1-0 loss against the serbs with 10 men?
