British National Party & its shocking victories - Your thoughts?
Those who live(d) here or have political knowledge about England would know that British National Party (BNP) are an openly racist party who could care less about disability rights, let alone a multi-cultural Britain.
If you don't know much about BNP check out their Official website | Candidates | Manifesto | Wiki.
Anyway, the last few days were council elections in the UK, which was shockingly in favour of BNP. According to their website a total of 234,483 votes (excluding the two disputed wards) was cast in favour of BNP candidates which across the 354 wards gives a national average of 18.1%. As far as I'm concerned, BNP gained 11 seats in EAST LONDON alone and picked up enough to to double their previous achievements.
Few of articles you may wanna read- Sunday Herald, Independent, Guardian
I have a distant relative who lives with family in the borough of Barking & Dagenham, where BNP now holds 11 (out of 12 contested) seats. They have a daughter aged 7, both parents work full-time so they leave her at childcare. After BNP's wave of abhorrent victories, the child care service no longer wants to take care of their daughter.
So what do you think about BNP and their recent achievement? Is it a result of Labour Party's failure? frustrated public? abandoned white working-class? BNP's racist lies? Are you worried? especially those who are living in B&D, ready to pack your bags?

Unbelievable! I would not want to live there. My younger bro lives in UK and I hear different stories from him at times. Seriously, USA is so much better than a lot of other western countries. Racism and bigotry seems to be waay more prevalent in UK, France, Germany etc.
My best wishes for your relatives, my heart goes out to them. Convince them to move somewhere better.

My cousin was in UK last year and he said it is as racist a country as he has seen. Especially, more than ever after that terrorism acts.
Granted, these are the minority. But lot of people have suffered in last few years.

Has he been in Greece or Russia? Both these places have considerably more racism than the UK

I live in Dagenham ( 5 mins. walk from Dagenham Heathway Station)!!! THINK ABT ME!
Dad bought a house here , so... nope... won't pack my bags.
And it does feel awkward if you take a walk and all you see are whites. But I feel relieved if there's even 1 black on the street or on the bus.
But not to worry, Seven Kings area nearby is a mainly Asian and Turkish area. They even have AL-NOOR islamic primary school , a big building proudly standing on the main road.
I also see these days that police are regularly patrolling on buses and on teen hanging places( e.g. outside fish n chips shop) And there's at least one Asian or Black policeman always.
All fish n chips shops in this area r owned and ran by Pakistanis
And even closer to the station is the ROYAL BENGAL TANDOORI restaurant where business is blooming with Brit diners.
And I also went to the nearby Barking College in Dagenham for 2 years. So, I have been in the area for 4 years!
Btw, ekhaney namaj pora o hoy proti shukkurbar local ekta community jagay.
Btw, DID U KNOW?
BNP leader is an ex-IRA terrorist? And also that he's a convict who was in prison?
Want to hear more? Fire away !

Dagenham wasn't that bad from what I saw few years ago, may be it's a different scene living there depending on the area. My bro used to work there and some of his friends are half-caste and skinheads. I think the people who mainly supported BNP are mainly the white working class who feel abandoned by labour party and also increasing ethnic minority in the area may be causing housing problems or something. BNP also won seats in other racially mixed places like Birmingham and Bradford (also called 'Bradistan'). It shows more people are supporting a party that's infamous for its fascist ideologies, and that's distressing for the local ethnic communities.
Personally I have seen more black racism than white. I don't think UK is as racist as countries like Australia, Russia and some European countries. The problem with BNP is that they don't support any equal rights, whether it's disability, racial, cultural, gender, sexuality, etc. They don't care if you were born here, never even been to your ancestor's origin, they just want you out of this land so that they can 'preserve' the traditional white british 'culture' like it was before.

As an AL supporter, i demand an immediate probe into this issue of BNP having an office in UK.
We are planning a nationwide "hortal" if this siphoning of money to set up an office in foreign countries is not investigated promptly. We'll go to the people and expose BNP.
And i also demand to be explained the meaning of "Sayesta".

I don't agree they surpass the Nazi or even come close to KKK.. those people mass-murdered blacks and jews so that's a different story.. but who knows if this wasn't the modern society, BNP could do the same. I watched a documentary few years ago which showed ine of BNP's leading 'politicians' was involved with an anti-ethnic minority movement that was responsible for murders of black people, can't remember what it was called.

18% is a staggering figure, and most distressing given their relative anonymity a few years ago. Especially given that their main influx of Asians/West Indians are now into their second or third generation of assimilation. Seems to me Blair is at fault for pandering to the middle classes while alienating his party's traditional powerbase.
As for the bloke who described Australia as a more racist country then Britain- not in a million years mate. Don't let the Howard government's attitude to asylum seekers, and the recent media hyperbole about the Cronulla race riot misrepresent a country that is a very welcome place for the huge immigrant population that lives in it.
