News: Shakib ban stands
I might be a minority here, but I feel that reducing the punishment would have sent a wrong message to the team. Yes, the punishment could have been less, but once handed out, it should not be reduced.
Isam reported in CricInfo: No reduction in Shakib ban, says BCB president.

Interesting that everyone is communicating by media. If face-to-face meeting is an issue, pick up the phone! A tele-conference is almost as effective!

I was expecting this. Makes no sense reducing the ban. Let justice be served, and wake up the Bangladesh team from their sudden slumber.

We won many many series(just two actually) without our key players. Whenever there's a crisis or we miss our key players we tend to play quite responsibly. WI and the most recent NZ series are such two examples. Although I'd love to see Shakib in the team, I think this could be a blessing in disguise.
Besides, if we lose against AG Shakib could be one of our excuses :p
