There could be deeper issues for this decision. Hope we get to the root of that and convince Mushfiq to continue

now the big question. who will be the captain

1. shak - not possible (already sacked)
2. tamim - not possible (same case)
3. mash - injury pron captain
4. ash - naah , not even in my dreams
5. riyadh - not consistent in 3 formats

only possible man

1. nasir

but i doubt bcb will take that risk. nasir need to come out of his dont care attitude to cool and calm one

I'm glad he did it. Change is always good. If only our ministers would step down like this after a bad fiscal quarter.

One thing for sure, my respect for Mushfiq has increased a thousandfold! It takes gut to step down as a captain.

I know that he is doing this for everyone's own good. I respect you captain Mushy!

so again ..... its another ZIMBABWE tour ......

well lots of people had complains about Mushy but still he has been a more successful captain than some previous others.

and a lot of times during his time, its not his captaincy rather it was the players performance that let us down

any thanks mushy for ur contribution as a captain and hope you continue to play well as a batsman and wicketkeeper.

and the new debate now starts who will be the next captain ???

Absolutely unnecessary. Yes, it was a terrible tour. But he should have stayed. There is simply no one to replace him. I guess many in BC will be happy now.

whoever becomes captain next, I will open a thread 'should xyz be stripped of captaincy' in the first day

I'm shocked.. he shouldn't have done this! I really don't see anyone can captain this team, it is getting frustrating. Shakib should be captain again and Nasir should be Vice..

Oh well at least he realises that a series loss against Zimbabwe is unacceptable and is prepared to take responsibility for his team's performance. Even though the performance this time has been better compared to the 2011 tour where we surrendered the series in the first three games itself plus we've had to deal with bad luck and poor umpiring throughout this series. Very tough job now for whoever gets appointed next with the World T20 and the World Cup coming up.

Good decision, my respect to Mushfiq. You can't win a series against Zim, you pay the price.

Now who should be the next captain? Don't see anyone better than Shakib

What a joke. I hope he wasn't pressurized into doing this. So what, next another captain until they lose to Zimbabwe? Good god, I hope it's not Nasir who's burdened with captaincy now.

I really rated Mushy as a captain, probably one of the better captains from the side with a decent cricketing brain. No need for this knee jerk reactions.

this was quite unnecessary from Mushy.... wait till you get back home....

as ppl said already.... there simply isnt anyone in the squad to replace him. Shakib needs more time to get back his batting/bowling form... cant make him the captain now...

what are the chances that BCB will talk him out of it when the team gets back in BD..

I don't doubt he has a good brain...but he certainly didn't use it much. He was just average as a tactitian. Otherwise, he was probably our best captain. Everyone liked him, he was quite successful, batted well with the responsibility, and was mature.

I think he should stay on because he is the best we got.
