Listening to the BBC commentry. They seem to suggest he is timing it well, but he is going after almost every ball

Field setting is different at early morning for FC stage. Hampshire are trying to take wicket so they may have an attacking field so there will be gaps and as long as a batsmen are aware of it they will pick runs
